This blender is a good value for the money. I got it on Amazon for about $30 and it works fine. I like that you can detatch the blade from the motor to clean it. Also, believe it or not, I like the fixed blade rather than some models I have had (like Bodum) that have interchangeable or removable blades. I really never had a reason to change the blade on it, and it just made one more thing that could come off and get lost. There are two speeds to work with. We used it at Thanksgiving to puree some cooked squash, and it worked great. A stick blender is not something you might use very often, but when you need one (like blending soup on the stovetop or pureeing vegetables in the pan) it's the best tool to get the job done.

I bought the KitchenAid KHB100OB Hand Blender, Onyx Black, as it was called in 2010, and it's still working great. I love it -- quiet motor, it can actually stand up without tipping over, very well made and sturdy. This is going to last, unlike the plastic blenders I've had in the past.

My only problem has to do with the plastic, or whatever material, disc between the blades and the shaft housing. I'm always careful about washing the parts that are submersible in my dishwater, so up till now I wasn't too concerned. But the other evening, I noticed that there may be something under the disc. I started scraped around it with my thumb nail and, yes, there was definitely something stuck in there. I continued to scrape between the disc and the shaft housing and bringing all kinds of ugly gunk (sorry, but that's the least obnoxious word I could think of) out of there. After doing this for about 15 minutes, my thumb nail was coming out clean, but I still felt there could be bacteria left behind.

So, I stood it in a pot of boiling water that reached half way up the metal shaft and boiled it for 5+ minutes. There now, I dare anything to be living in it any longer. At this point, I think the disc may not be plastic because it withstood the boiling water just fine. I also realize this is probably going to happen again and I'm going to be using my boiling method frequently. BTW, nothing was damaged by being boiled -- in fact, I think the blades run even smoother.

Well one for myself at the local store. Liked it just fine. Bought six more from Amazon as Christmas gifts.

Motor is whisper quiet; with the blade attached makes just a very little noise, such that you wouldn't even wake up a sleeping baby in the room.

In a few seconds half a carton of frozen raspberries are totally blended so that only the seeds remain. Sets up fast, works best, cleans up fast. What more would I want.

As far as quality is concerned, I would say that you would not want to take it apart and reassemble it over and over again each day, or the four plastic tabs that hold the unit together will wear out and stop working. So, I keep mine all assembled and never take it apart. It should last for many years this way.

Highly recommend this product, if you are looking for a way to mix powders and fruits and yogurt and milk and things frozen in a big hurry without adding a lot of foam and suds to the mix.

I was looking for an immersion blender with a one-piece motor and blend stem assembly for durability. This appliance isn't built that way, but then again neither were any of the others.Functionality was not a real issue as I use it only for blending protein shakes, scrambled eggs, pudding, and other liquid concoctions. If one allows the blades too close to the surface of the liquid, a large amount of air is sucked into the mix (meringue, anyone?). It does what I need it to do, and it is much cheaper than other models with a thousand and one attachments that I would never use.

So much better than imitations. It works great and grinds ice with no problem. I use it every morning for a breakfast shake with protein, yogurt, and frozen fruit and it works great. Easy to clean. I purchase a cheaper one previously and in less than 6 months was falling apart, literally. The pieces were separating from each other like it had no glue.

Works fine for blending soups like curried butternut squash or fennel tomato, butter chicken sauce, etc.

May need to tilt the pot to make the soup or sauce deep enough to blend without splattering, but that's a problem you would have with most immersion blenders.

Very easy to clean.

Very impressive. I purchased this in order to make it easier for me to whip up some low sodium condiments. So far I've used it to make some mustard, mayonnaise, chili sauce, and a garlic based dipping sauce. Did the job nicely. A good value too.

I am thrilled with my purchase.

It's amazing and exactly what I needed, if I had one complaint it would be the "mixing jar" that it comes with; it's pretty light weight plastic so you definitely need to be very careful when using it. The blender is so powerful that it's pretty useless.

i bought this about 5-9 years ago and it's still going strong. it takes up less space than a blender, easier to wash, it can chomp ice. I always make smoothies with it and you can make soup too. I made a red pepper and potato and leek soup and this blended it super smooth.

highly recommended. it's expensive but lasts long. i did my research prior to buying and it paid off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful blender

I got this to make puree baby food and I am so happy with it. I tried the Baby Bullet first and that was just horrible - for about the same price, it came with so many useless parts and was barely powerful enough to blend applesauce. This, on the other hand, is super powerful and blends everything so quickly and efficiently. Everything comes out so smoothly after a few pulses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wife is happy

Wife likes it a lot so that's all that matters. She uses it for certain types of soup primarily. Her mother has the same one and has had it for a decade so I got her one and she is pretty happy with it so far. Can't say much.. Hand blending soup is outside my job description and above my husband paygrade.
