These little blue apples are very small so they don't take up much room in the fridge. I put one in each crisper and they are increasing the life of my produce by several days. Believe it or not I had a bell pepper last 2 1/2 weeks. It's easier to always have fresh produce on hand since my fruits and veggies aren't going bad before I can eat them.

They come set up so you just need to take them out of the box and they are ready to go. I love the fact that when the three months are up you aren't throwing anything away to harm the environment. You just take the inner packet out and dump the contents in your house plant as fertilizer and then insert a new inner packet. I've used others in the past that just get entirely thrown away, off to fill a landfill. I love the fact that I am saving money, making eating healthier easier, and helping out the environment. All at a good price too.

How I use the Blue Apple

I put the blue apple in the clear plastic boxes that a pound of spring mix or spinach comes in. (See picture I uploaded.) I would estimate that the "shelf Life" doubles. Saves money AND helps me eat better. Tom

I've had these about 2 months now, I keep one in my veggie crisper in the fridge and the other a bowl of countertop produce (onions, garlic, tomatoes, avocados). I have noticed a dramatic difference, especially in the fridge crisper. I can keep most items about double the usual time period, and this is great because produce is very expensive where I live (Hawaii). I'm very happy with it so far and I think it's already paid for itself.

WARNING FOR THOSE WITH ARTHRITIS

I've been using Blue Apples for several years in my crispers and they do work! However, this is a note of caution for anyone with arthritis in their hands. On occasions where my husband wasn't around I had to resort to pliers to open the plastic apples as they are impossible to open if you have pain or loss of strength in your hands.

I solved the problem by putting the crystals in two "fine" mesh "tea infuser" purchased at a local big box store store and I threw those blasted blue plastic apples in the trash! So save your money, buy the refills and go find some metal tea infusers.

As stated above I love the concept but hate the delivery which is why this product gets a 3 star rating.

Wow! They really work!

Wow, these really work! We live in a small town and our local grocery store's produce is often not very fresh and overpriced. We use a coop, Bountiful Baskets, to get most of our produce but they only operate every other week. In the past 1/4 to 1/3 of the produce I would purchase would spoil before I used it unless I froze it and some things like lettuce, can't be frozen. I purchased the BluApple a few weeks ago, and put one in each of my produce drawers in my fridge along with apples, oranges, lemons, leaf and romaine lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, peppers, mushrooms, carrots, then on the shelves 2 flats of strawberries and 2 of blackberries. At the 2 week mark we had eaten all of the vegetables and NOTHING had spoiled, not even my English cucumbers which normally turn mushy and mold within 5 days. None of the lettuce or spinach was slimy. In the fruit drawer the remaining apple was still crunchy after 2 weeks, none of the citrus had mold. We had eaten most of the berries, but still had 4 containers of blackberries and 6 of strawberries. NONE of them had any mold or were spoiled when I made them into pie for Easter (after 14 days in the fridge) and in the past I'm lucky to keep them fresh for 3-4 days without some spoilage. If you shop every 2 or 3 days for fresh produce, you probably have no need for something like this, but for those of us who shop less frequently, these are a great way to keep your produce fresh longer and avoid wasting food. I will definitely be purchasing these again when I need refills! I can't wait to try them out with my garden fresh produce this summer.

I was skeptical, but willing to give this a whirl & I'm so glad I did. I buy the big tubs of spinach so I've been dropping the little apple right in the tub.
Last week I scooped up the last bits of spinach from the bottom of the tub & admired how none of it was slimy or wilted yet. This alone was impressive to me, and then I looked at the expiration date. The spinach had expired 5 days earlier - FIVE DAYS! I have NEVER had spinach last anywhere near that long before this little apple came into my life. I'm now buying refills & will sing the praises of this product to anyone that will listen.

My boyfriend and I use spinach for our salads instead of regular lettuce. It always come in a plastic tub or those useless clear plastic bags you can't reseal. We felt we had to eat it FAST because within 3 or 4 (max) days, the spinach leaves would get ick and slimy and smelly. If we went out of town for the weekend, forget it, we'd have to waste the rest. This product seemed too good to be true, but I thought I had nothing to lose. THANK GOD I bought these. Now we can go 2 weeks (maybe more but we eat it daily) without having to fret and worry about our spinach/power greens. I bought some big tupperware and stuffed the greens in there with one apple, covered. Stays fresh and crisp three times longer now. Truly works and it is worth every penny.
