The BluappleÂ® One-Year Refill Kit rounds out the BluappleÂ® 2-Pack by providing refills for two BluapplesÂ® for one full year. There are 8 packets inside each Refill Kit. One packet is to be placed inside BluappleÂ®. The remaining packets need to stay in the resealable bag they were purchased in, or an airtight container. As long as they are kept airtight, they will last indefinitely. A typical family of four throws away as much as $600 worth of spoiled produce each year. Ethylene gas given off naturally by fruits and vegetables hastens their ripening process, which makes it difficult to consume the produce you've purchased before it inevitably goes bad. The Bluapple absorbs excess ethylene gas emitted by produce and extends the life and freshness of fruits and vegetables in your fridge and on your counters. This saves you money and ensures that the healthy food you purchase for your family stays fresh and delicious.

These little packets are a BIG help

These little packets have been a miracle in our fridge. Fresh fruits and veggies last much longer with one of these packets in the drawer. You're supposed to put them in the little blue plastic apple, but we just swap out the packets every 30 days and don't bother with the apple. I also put one in with our bags of potatoes and onions to help them from sprouting as quickly as they always seem to do. Same with bananas, just tuck a packet in the bunch and they take twice as long to ripen (you can also tear your bunch apart and wrap the ends in plastic wrap or foil and that really slows down the ripening process) . We've been using these for the last few years ever since I saw them in the grocery store, and I can't imagine not using them. Nothing is worse than going for a piece of fruit or vegetables and finding out that the bag of green beans you bought two days ago (and that isn't supposed to expire for at least another week) has already sprouted fuzzies or is slimy and mushy. It's frustrating throwing money away on produce that goes bad well before its time. We have our list of what should be refrigerated, what to store at room temp, what to store at high humidity, what to store at low humidity, and other little tips and tricks to make produce last as long as possible. Even with all of that, we'd still see stuff going bad well before its time. Since starting to use these packets, it's like three to four days have been added on to the life of the produce we buy. Ten bucks for these is easily made back by not having to throw out produce because plans changed at the last minute and we had to postpone cooking it for a day or two.

these help my bananas last all week

I received a BluApple in a RawBox subscription box last year. I thought "what the heck, why not?" and put it on the counter next to my bananas. (I buy bananas on Saturday and use them for as long as possible. When they get too brown, I put them in the freezer for later use in baked goods.)

For a few months, I went along not really thinking about it, but then my bananas stopped lasting until Friday. I decided it was because the BluApple had old stuff inside it (I don't honestly know what the "stuff" is) so I ordered this. I was really happy at how inexpensive it was -- barely more than a dollar per refill packet.

Anyway, I refilled my BluApple with one of these and my bananas are lasting until Friday again (assuming they are good at the beginning of the week, of course -- I can get by buying ones that don't have much green left and don't have to get totally green ones and they'll still last). The only thing that changed was adding a BluApple refill. I think it's worth it, for less than a dollar a month I am saving a lot of bananas from the freezer (where they tend to pile up because I can only eat so much banana bread) and/or the trash. Definitely recommend these refills as well as the BluApple itself.

Well worth it verses cost of produce; don't bother with the groovy holder

Never bought the holder. Just got these refills, labelled three with a sharpie for the date, and put one in the fruit bowl in the kitchen, and one each in the veggie drawers in the refrigerator. Sealed up the rest to replace the ones in use in about 6 months. Now my fruit (lobe expensive apples) seems near indestructible.

Have used Bluapples for a couple of years now in my refrigerator's vegetable bins. I find that they last about 3 months between refills and definitely extend the lives of any vegetable (especially greens) or fruit. For example, baby leaf spinach that would ordinarily be past prime in a week or less will last 2 or more weeks; and root vegetables are perfectly edible after more than a month. These little packets save $$ by eliminating wasted produce, which is perhaps one of the main disappointing food losses most of us encounter.

Once a week, I proudly spend an inordinate amount of time carefully choosing fresh produce in an effort to be healthy. Later each week, I found I "cleaning out the fridge" meant throwing away alot of that produce and the $$$ spent, which leaves me feeling guilty and wasteful. . I have no idea how this product works, but I can tell you they really do extend the life of the produce. If you are single, have picky eaters or a hectic schedule, these make a huge a difference in how long your produce will keep.

I love this product! Keeps my produce fresh for a couple weeks longer! I bought a head of lettuce and placed it in my refrigerator bin, unfornuately I forgot about it. Three weeks later I opened my drawer and it is still there. Fresh and usable! Unbelievable! I will always have these in my fruit and vegetable bins. A bonus is that you can use the packets it comes with when its time to replace them as fertilizer for your houseplants.

I was very surprised that Blueapple works just like it says it does. I had a head of lettuce that was in the refrigerator for a month (testing to see just how long it would last). It did not wilt or turn brown. I wrapped it in paper towel, put it in a plastic bag and left about 1" of the bag open. It has kept tomatoes, apples, oranges and other things fresh much longer than usual. Once you have the little blue apples, you can buy a year's supply of refill at a reasonable price.

I love these! As a single person, I don't go through fruit and vegetables as fast as a family would, so produce tends to sit around longer. These SAVE ME MONEY and are so easy to use. I just wish they'd include reminder stickers like the E.G.G. version I used to use (shaped like egg instead of apple). All in all, a terrific product and great price. I've told TONS of people about these. Throw out less food and enjoy freshness longer :)
