Editorial Reviews
Product Description
The Seattle bassist has been an unassuming yet vital figure on the Northwest jazz scene for almost three decades. He has lent his talents to countless recordings and live performances, including work with Michael Brecker, Benny Golson, Paquito D'Rivera, Phil Woods, Peter Erskine, Bob Mintzer, Lew Soloff, Bucky Pizzarelli, and Buddy DeFranco. With The Road Home, Anderson makes his debut as a solo artist and composer. Supported by longtime collaborators, pianist Darin Clendenin and drummer Mark Ivester, Anderson has crafted a thoughtful collection of original music that reflects his influences and pays homage to his mentors.

I'm not particularly a Jazz fan, and a couple of songs aren't really my style, but there are some that I really enjoy - enough that the CD stays in my vehicle.

I've listened to this album again and again. My favorite is the tune "Esperancoso Destino". Great band made up of top notch musicians.

Recently I had the pleasure of seeing Clipper Anderson perform live in Ballard, WA at the Ballard Jazz Walk. My wife and I (and she's not the biggest Jazz fan) loved listening to the Clipper Anderson Trio. Greta Matassa was there and performed a few songs, including the amazing Esperançoso Destino, where she and pianist Darin Clendenin traded solos back and forth with unbelievable synchronicity and style.
It's been several years since I fell in love with a new Jazz artist, and after last night, I can't stop listening to Clipper's CD "The Road Home" - it's a masterfully put together recording. HIGHLY recommended and enjoyable.
