Those who, like me, had the chance to watch at least most of the episodes of this fifth season aired on TV (or occasionally on the web), will probably agree that this season was superb. Like any other shows from the CSI series, the Miami one doesn't really feel like a typical TV Show, but more like a new movie every week or two - but with the same cast.

What hooks me in CSI: Miami is definitely its tropicalesque setting that sets it apart from other CSIs shows, its inventive, smart and curious cases and the graphic production, which is very attractive and well-done.

I also think that Horatio Caine (David Caruso) is the protagonist who gives the show a very distinctive appeal, playing the "super-hero-macho-man" role and, sometimes, overshadowing the other characters. This is another characteristic that makes CSI: Miami unique in comparison to other CSIs shows that don't really have so much focus on just one character. This seems to be so true that the DVD box set cover of this fifth season has only Horatio's close-up and downtown Miami buildings in the background. Can anybody see the rest of the cast? If this is fair, well, that's not up to me.

There's just one thing for sure - CSI: Miami is one of the greatest TV Shows on air today.

David Caruso is perfect for this part as the head of the Crime Lab in Miami Florida. Out of all the CSI series, this series is the best and the actors accompanying David are perfect for the parts they portray.

In the fifth season, CSI Miami returned to the formula that had made the show successful, i.e., evidence-based crime drama. The fourth season was marred by bizarre scripts about the private lives of the characters, which degenerated into soap opera toward the end. After wrapping up the loose ends with a spectacular trip to Brazil in the first episode, the action returned to Florida, and the plots became more realistic - or at least less implausible. The series continued to use the same devices - brightly lit scenes of the beaches and oceans, pastel colors, scripts that were often about decadent hedonists committing murder, and of course David Caruso's understated performance. CSI Miami was never an outstanding series, but always watchable.

I think at this point I'm following the show simply because of David Caruso who, sadly, seems to be in fewer episodes of the series the further we go along. He's there for the head craned at a crime scene, the pun and the glasses and the "YEAAAH!", but otherwise it's the other cardboard characters that seem to occupy most of the show. I will admit the season opener in Brazil was pretty cool - strong on style if not on substance and plausibility. Additionally, the Delko head-injury sub-plot was an interesting one, although from now on I'm going to watch as that scar on the back of his head will likely completely vanish (plus head injuries and concussions tend to be the most harmless and most easily-recovered from thing in film and TV). I did like the Delko hospital sequence and the inclusion of music from Beck's 'Sea Change' album... that sort of hazy, woozy music was PERFECT for someone in a hospital with a head injury.
I'm going to make it through the rest of the series, but I'm expecting even less and less of Caruso and just more super-skinny, cosmetically-augmented other characters doing the work, after Caruso get's his signature pun at the beginning of the show then vanishes for most of the rest of the episode...

Loved the characters, their interactions, the crimes and how they were solved. Love to see this show renewed. Great fun, entertaining, and educational (for those of us who know nothing about catching the criminal).

CSI Miami is interesting to watch and I really enjoy it. I have all the seasons now and have watched every single one. I know a lot of people think it's lame, but I really don't care. I enjoy it and will probably watch it over and over again. I find it interesting and fun.

CSI:Miami is one of my favorite shows and since I live in Florida, this was a must-have.

PRODUCT PROS:
- DVDs, cover, case, video quality are in excellent condition.
- The cover has a nice "holographic" style to it.
PRODUCT CONS:
- none

SHOW PROS:
- Too many to mention.
SHOW CONS:
- Horatio's movements and one-liners do get a bit annoying but I'm still a huge fan.
- For all who don't live in FL, it's not always this bright and sunny, it actually rains a lot.

FINAL RATING: 5/5

This season slowed down a little bit compared to season 4. Intensity was there, but as the season progress, less chaos between episodes. Opening was cool in Brazil. Season closer wasn't that hyped, though the story was good. Highlights: Delko almost dies, Horatio saves a stripper, Wolf gets fired, and nicer looking cars. . .
