Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Pint Cup

I currently own several Klean Kanteen bottles of various sizes (with screw-caps) and have been completely satisfied with those stainless steel products. I love them and I carry one with me almost all the time. Wanting to avoid the use of plastic cups, and the potential hazard of broken glass, I purchased two 4-packs (a total of eight cups) of the Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Pint Cups from Amazon.com. The two boxed sets were delivered promptly and arrived in excellent condition.

After receiving and opening my order, I used my glass Pyrex measuring cup and verified that the Klean Kanteen stainless steel pint cup did indeed hold 16-fluid ounces, right up to the rim. The size is good for adult hands to hold, but a smaller size for children might be warranted, depending on age and ability of the child. I definitely like the overall shape of the container and the quality of stainless steel. The surface finish on the inside and outside is nicely done. The etched logo, product number, and the noted capacity (in both English and metric units) on the outside bottom is a nice addition that probably won't wear away, and it's good to know the official capacity... information that is usually nonexistent on other drinkware. The gauge of the metal and heft is alright I guess, but I wouldn't mind if it were a tad bit thicker metal with a little heavier feel. However, that's just my personal preference and some people might actually prefer a lighter gauge metal.

My primary complaint with this product is that the top edge is a rim, or lip, which is curled outward and downward, not rolled tightly, and therefore not sealed underneath. This outward and downward flare tends to channel liquid unexpectedly along the outside of the container, or around your mouth possibly dribbling down your chin while drinking. So, using a bar napkin or coaster is advisable. Also, when placed inverted in the dish washer for cleaning, since that rim is not completely sealed, the curled lip catches dishwater and does not dry completely. However, if your dishwasher gets really hot in the drying mode, it might solve that problem by thoroughly evaporating the rinse water. Air drying the dishes definitely leaves water trapped inside the lip when the container is upside down, so after cleaning, you should shake any excess water out from inside the rolled rim before returning the pint cup to your storage cabinet or cupboard.

Perhaps Klean Kanteen will rectify this design flaw in the future. If they were to make that change, I would bump my appraisal to a full 5-star rating for this particular product.

Great cup for beer (for me) and for tang (for the kids). Not such a great cup for hot coffee unless you're trying to burn your finger prints off to avoid capture by the government. I guess if you're trying to avoid capture by the government you probably wouldn't be shopping online.
To that end, go to Starbucks and get some of those little cardboard coffee cup jacket things and keep in your camper for mornings when you want both hot coffee and your fingerprints.

Great option of you want to give baby a cup not made of plastic or glass. It is nice and light and my 10 month old picks it up easily full of milk or water. I combined it with the O-Sip! Lids to make it a sippy. It's now my favorite cup for the baby, he can throw it and I don't have to worry about breakage.

very good basic-style small drinking cup. solid "food-grade" stainless steel construction. laser-etched data on bottom of cup, including "made in china". unnecessary laser-etched logo on side of cup. main design weakness is gap under rolled lip, which may be difficult to clean.

I love the stainless cups. Cold drinks stay cold for a long time and they clean easily. Can't break them and are non-toxic. My only complaint is the rolled edges. The rolled edge hold liquids, so if you wash them and turn them upside down to dry, when you turn them right side up again, water comes out of the rolled edge. Could be a sanitary problem with other liquids getting under the rims.

We got two sets of these to replace our wasteful solo cup habit. We were spending probably $5.00 a week on plastic cups and we got tired of the waste. We picked these cups up and, yes, they are rather expensive, but consider what you get. These are steel and if taken care of will last a very very long time. We're happy that we've reduced our grocery bill and reduced the amount of garbage we have at the end of the week.

The cups are stainless and even after 6+ weeks of daily use and twice-weekly dishwasher runs they show no signs of rust or wear at all. They hold up very well and feel great in the hand.

I've found two flaws worth mentioning - but keep in mind they aren't big:

1) The curled rim holds water after a run in the dishwasher. It gets trapped where the steel curls over and you have to shake it a little and run a paper towel around/under the lip after each wash to make sure they're nice and dry before going in the cabinet. Otherwise the water will find it's way out and this is a problem because...

2) Being made of stainless means they do attract surface smears quickly. Even plain water will leave shadow of a trail if not wiped dry before evaporating. After a full day's use of 5 or so fill ups they do look well used and ready for a good cleaning. This isn't a big deal in any way, but for thoroughness I thought I'd include it.

Even with both of these 'drawbacks', I still consider these cups 5-star material and am very glad we added them to our home.

I love these cups! We have a big collection and use them all the time. It never fails that people ask where they can get some for themselves. (Should I start asking for commission???)
Really, though, here is a sampling of the ways we use them:

We've served both kids and adults and everyone loves them. They're dishwasher safe and easy to clean. Get some washable crayons and you can personalize them so people can keep track of their cup. Great for juice, water, lemonade, wine, cocktails, smoothies, anything!
