Sakina is a Kurdish singer who lives in Vienna. Royê Mi is her first album after some years of live gigs with varying musicians and musical ensembles. It mixes regional vocal styles with tradition and experimental techniques. Her voice and her lyrics are empathetic and the songs and melodies reflect the life in her native country and the suffering and melancholy of the people. A booklet with the Kurdish lyrics and their English and German translations is available from her website.
