Great looking knob, easy install, PITA to get the old plastic junk knob off

First off, this fits a 2014 just fine, do not believe the part filter. I learned this from drakes website but amazon sold it for the same price and with prime I got faster free shipping. Great looking aluminum knob, the tire tread hides the set screw, which you will need a small torx head to tighten to lock it onto the shift arm I used the torx size 10 bit from my set. One warning, the cheap plastic factory knob, IS HARD AS **** TO GET OFF BARE HANDED, you may want to have a strap wrench handy unless you are built like a brick outhouse like I am, also another warning, be carefull when you apply the 200+ pounds of force required to remove the plastic knob, it comes off all at once and you are in prime position to hit the console with your forearm like I did, thankfully nothing broke from the blow but I had to pop my defroster knob back into position after it took a glancing hit. You could also smash yourself in the face pretty good.

I bought this with the transfer case 4 wheel drive knob as well for a matching set.

This was a really nice and reasonably-priced upgrade. The factory OEM automatic transmission knob is really cheap in its' feel and was one of the first things that I wanted to upgrade for my Wrangler. I bought both this and the matching 4WD selector knob and it really improves the way that the Jeep feels during normal usage.

I will say, that in order to remove both of these knobs and replace them you are going to end up destroying the factory knobs during the removal process. For this transmission knob, I ended up prying off the lower chrome portion of the factory knob with a screwdriver, placed between the rubber part and the plastic chrome part and prying the apart. I then took the same screwdriver and split the plastic teeth to the upper portion of the knob, put the truck in neutral and then rotated it, breaking all of the teeth off. From there, you had to simply put a pair of racheting pliars on the knob and twist until it came off. The new knob uses rotating allen screws on both sides of the the knob, right underneath the rubber grip. Gently pull the rubber grip off, position the two set-screws fore and aft of the lever, and tighten them down..

Junk! Has a push-button on the top that is not pictured! Also, it's way oversized for the stock automatic gear shifting shaft on my 2013 Wrangler JKU. Because it's so oversized the provided set screw doesn't reach all the way in to fix the knob to the shaft so then it spins around the gear shift.

I actually bought one of these for my 2012 Jeep Liberty (KK series.) The shifter shaft is the same as the JK.

I don't know why its not mentioned anywhere in the instructions or elsewhere.. But there are allen set screws under the rubber tread that you use to tighten the shifter to the shaft. So just lift up or pull down the rubber tread to expose the screws.

Looks awesome and feels very heavy duty.
