I have a smaller crock pot for years now and finally decided to switch to a larger one. Boy am I glad I did- and I'm glad I chose this one! I made chili in it the other day and it was mouth watering. The seal on the lid is wonderful, just don't lock as you are cooking (as the instructions say). The device is easy to figure out. It begins working as soon as plugged in. The red is so bright and beautiful and of course the little warmer is a huge plus! I used it to melt cheese for drizzle on the chili and it worked great. I highlight recommend this product!
This was a Christmas present for my wife this year, who asked specifically for it. She has used it about 4 times and says it works wonderfully. The only issue is that the very first time she ever used it, smoke billowed out of the back for approximately a solid 20 minutes, and it was pretty darn toxic. She is highly chemical sensitive and had to open things up to get fresh air into the house. Then the crockpot continued to smell around the seal throughout that initial use. Second time around and ever since, no issues. If not for the smoking issue, would have been 5 stars.
My crockpot from 15 to 20 years ago finally gave up the ghost. It was due to negligence, but the old crockpot had a hinge on the back which is very handy because it frees up two hands for holding a plate and a serving utensil. The description stated it is hinged. This is not accurate. I'm sure it will cook well and work perfectly. It will just not be as handy at potlucks and football Sunday. Latches are not hinges.
My family has outgrown the old small crockpot, and this is more than an upgrade -- it's an essential tool for making pork loin, shredded pork, large amounts of chicken, stews, and anything else I can think of. I'm confused by the "warmth" star rating. It does get quite hot while cooking.
I have used the Crockpot once so far and plan to use it much more in the future. It did a great job when full of beef stew. I am not much of a cook, and so am researching recipes for my next attempt. I noted very quickly that the outside becomes very hot, so it is advisable to follow the directions regarding distances from surfaces. The power cord is the shortest I have ever seen. I was barely able to plug it in while it was on my stove.
This was a gift for my parents to replace our old crock pot that had run its course. It works perfectly. Cooks our food evenly and the warming function also works well. The mini side pot is great for keeping this like sauces and cheese warm and it also travels well. We love that the lid can be locked on so we can take our crock pot with us to family functions and things of that matter. Great for making one pot meals!
