I bought this as a refurbished unit and so far it has performed admirably! I would like to say that SSD drives are a very good boost to any PC. This one is a SATA 3 capable drive, however even in older laptops that are not compatible with SATA 3, it will still work just fine. It won't be working at its max capability but for my purposes it is serving me well. This was only 64GB so I am using it on a spare laptop and it seems to fit my needs. An OS does take up alot of space so if you are looking for more space for files and programs I would opt for a bigger drive. This one was perfect for the price, brand name, and size of the drive. Thanks SanDisk and Amazon!
01/2015 Update: This refurbished SSD is still functioning admirably in my Dell Laptop. Have not noticed any reduction in speed or any unknown errors.

The SanDisk SDSSDP-128G is a solid-state drive (SSD) that offers reliable performance and storage capacity suitable for everyday computing needs. This review will cover the key aspects of the SSD, including its performance, durability, and overall value.

First and foremost, the performance of the SDSSDP-128G is commendable. With a storage capacity of 128GB, it provides ample space for storing operating systems, applications, and essential files. The SSD utilizes the SATA III interface, which allows for fast data transfer speeds and quick access to stored data. Users can expect improved boot times, faster application launches, and overall snappy system responsiveness compared to traditional hard drives.

The SDSSDP-128G is also known for its reliability and durability. As an SSD, it has no moving parts, making it less susceptible to mechanical failures and shock damage. This not only ensures data integrity but also contributes to a longer lifespan compared to traditional hard drives. SanDisk, a reputable brand in storage solutions, has a solid track record for manufacturing reliable and high-quality products, adding to the trustworthiness of this SSD.

In terms of compatibility, the SDSSDP-128G is designed to be universally compatible with most desktop and laptop computers that support the SATA III interface. Installation is straightforward, and the drive comes with the necessary mounting brackets and screws, making it easy for users to upgrade their existing storage configurations.

When considering the price point, the SDSSDP-128G offers good value for its performance and reliability. While there may be higher-capacity SSDs available on the market, this particular model strikes a balance between storage capacity and affordability. It is an ideal choice for users who require a significant performance boost without breaking the bank.

However, it's important to note that the SDSSDP-128G may not be suitable for users with storage-intensive needs, such as those who work extensively with large multimedia files or require vast amounts of storage space. In such cases, a higher-capacity SSD or external storage options may be more appropriate.

In conclusion, the SanDisk SDSSDP-128G is a reliable and capable solid-state drive that provides a noticeable performance upgrade over traditional hard drives. Its combination of decent storage capacity, fast data transfer speeds, and proven durability make it a suitable choice for everyday computing tasks. Whether you're looking to upgrade an older system or enhance the performance of a new build, the SDSSDP-128G offers a reliable storage solution at an affordable price point.

I was a little hesitant in purchasing this hard drive. The reviews on it seemed to say there was a high failure rating with them. Im happy to say that its been 4 months and its still working just like the first day. Its quick. i have noticed a 30% increase in battery usage. ill say it again. its quick. So much faster than the previous spinning hard drive that was in this laptop. Build quality is a little flaky. it feels cheap. no if ands or buts about it. but then again its just going to sit in your computer and rarely be removed so in the end i felt that its build quality to be completely sufficient. for the price its worth every penny. especially if your using it on a outdated laptop. I'm running an older system with an Athlon X2 6000+ OC'd a bit and an Nvidia based 550 VGA card. Since Borderlands 2 was taxing my system for all it's worth and heating the HD a bit more than I liked, I pulled my whole Steam install to this SSD for performance and load relief on the 1GB WD hard drive. I've been very happy with how the poor old beast came back to life on warmer days, the load times have gone down, and my frame rates have gone up a bit. All good all the way around. Do be prepared, this is the basic "kit" with only the SSD included, no adapters, etc. This wasn't a problem for me as it was what I expected and I've got parts coming out of all kinds of uncomfortable orifices. Thanks San Disk!

One caveat, at current pricing, it may well be worth getting a 120 or 128 GB SSD over this one as the prices for double the size are about 50% more than this. If this barely clears your window for cost as it did mine, than it's a great buy but if you can skip going out to dinner once this week, you may be better served at double the size. I'm not complaining as I'm thrilled to find this option at this price but for those with a few bucks to spare, it's worth it.
Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2013
Some of the reviews will have you believing that this will turn your PC into the fastest computer on the planet, and that's pretty misleading. This is probably the cheapest way to get a SSD. It comes in an incredibly small box, no bracket or cables, and horrible instructions.

I ran a disk test from Passmark's Benchmark program. What I found is that the average speed is 320.92 MBps on reading and 93 MBps writing. For Sequential Read and Writes, this drive does pretty good. For Random Seek and RW this drive falls behind other SSDs.

With that said, for the average user this is still a nice upgrade that will let your computer boot fast, load programs fast and help keep your PC Quite. I'm using this with Windows 8, which has surprisingly great support for SSDs and it works like a charm. If your on windows 7, you need to do some small tweaks to get up to speed. If your on XP still, you probably should avoid this upgrade and start looking for a new PC.

This is something you can add to your current PC that has a traditional HD, and move your Operating System to. This is more than enough space for Windows 7 or 8 with a normal amount of apps. Just remember you have to store your pictures, music and videos somewhere else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works good! Inexpensive!
Reviewed in Canada on August 24, 2015
Works great for me! Super cheap! Threw it in a laptop that had a bad HDD, and off to the races! At this price, I'm not all that concerned about Read/Write speeds. SSDs are a great choice for laptops that may be used around kids since they don't break from impacts as easily as HDDs. Memory house seller took their sweet time getting the package shipped but it was free shipping so can't really complain!

I really considered going for a faster (and maybe more dependable) 250GB drive for just 30-40$ more, but I just needed cheap SSD to get a laptop up and running that someone had given to me. Windows 10 boots up in like 15-18 seconds.

Just note, this does not have a 3.5" adapter tray if your planning to use this in a PC. You'll either need an adapter tray or some other arrangements (like velcro stickies or something).

5.0 out of 5 stars SanDisk EXTENDS LIFE OF OLD LAPTOP
Reviewed in Canada on May 25, 2014
The hard drive of my old laptop was always "acting" up and the overall speed of
the OS, whether Vista or Ubuntu, was quite slow, although Ubuntu was significantly faster.

I did not want to invest very much to keep my old laptop functional, so I
reviewed many the solid state hard drive offerings and found the 64 GB SATA 6.0 SanDisk
to be the most economical match for my needs. Fortunately my old laptop i386 was able to
accept the SATA 6.0 specifications. The SATA 6.0 is downwards compatible with the
plain SATA specs which my old laptop has.

The installation of the SanDisk was very easy. Fortunately I had a backup image of my old
disk with the Ubuntu Operating System (OS) on a USB stick so that restoration of the image
to the SanDisk was simple and worked well.

If you do not have a backup image of your old disk then you can purchase a 'kit'
specifically designed for migrating from your old hard disk to the new SanDisk. If you are
planning to copy an image of your old disk, make sure that the SanDisk has the same
Gigabyte (GB) capacity, or that it is larger in capacity than your old disk. If you have a
backup image created by the "Ping" backup utility then the new disk capacity can be
smaller than the old disk but must still be large enough to accommodate the OS and
data image that was created by Ping.

For me SanDisk was a good investment. I have converted my old laptop to a desktop
with a separate monitor, and it is currently running Ubuntu 12.04 OS at speeds at least
5 times faster than before.

5 MONTHS later - October 29, 2014 and the SansDisk is still running flawlessly!
........ I have it partitioned for the Linux OS and (about 27 Giggabytes) and a file storage
........ partition (about 37 Gigabytes).

5.0 out of 5 stars System Booster
Reviewed in India on January 23, 2015
SSDs are SSD. They offer good speed but it depends on applications/activities you are using.

Whereas system startup/reboot are simply awesome, maximum transfer speed during data transfer to/from external media (pen drive, eHDD etc.) will be equal to maximum read/write speed of slowest device.

Applications are also loading quickly. Again, how fast they are loading depends on other factors like - other concurrent applications, processor speed, amount of RAM.

I'm not a hard core gamer, so can't tell about gaming performance.

Overall, SSD is always going to boost your system performance. However, if you can compromise with ultimate speed and want more storage space in same price, you can go for 7200rpm HDD which gives comparable performance.

Edit:
-------
I just noticed that I've not written about the product itself. So here are few words for it after 2 months of constant use:
This Sandisk SDD is amazing in performance. First I installed Ubuntu OS on it. On 7200rpm, Ubuntu OS installation requires minimum 15 minutes but in this SSD, installation finished in 5 minutes. And don't ask me about boot time.. it's simply SUPERFAST, yes it takes 5-7 seconds to boot up the Ubuntu OS.
Installing application happens in no time. In my older 5200rpm HDD, installing Google chrome took minimum 10 minutes but in this SSD, Google chrome installation finished in just 2-3 minutes. Application load times are also super fast.
In this two month of usage, this Sandisk SSD worked flawlessly and as expected, so I'm re-rating this product from 4 star to 5 star :)
