One of the best shows to come out in a long time...and they cancelled it. Boo. Well-written and just ridiculous enough to work. James Van der Beek playing "himself" is fantastic. I hope that Netflix decides to rescue this show the way it rescued Arrested Development.

I bought this because my wife really wanted to see this show, and our cable's on demand service didn't carry it. I watched this season with her, and it was funnier than most of the shows you see on TV today.

I had NO CLUE who James Van de Beek was till I saw this show.I then went back (I knew he did the Creek because they mentioned it) so I decided to look at "Dawson's Creek" to get to know him a bit more..that took the Xmas and New Year's week marathon...was over 60 hours long and I got the appreciation of the Creek, in fact feel in love with the characters...now when they made that it was about 20 hour episodes, while apt 23 is 7 half hour episodes per season..that's really cutting it short especially when you go to buy this online and it's still about the same price..but I did purchase it. I live in NYC and mostly many places where they film but besides that they "GET" the "NY EXPERIENCE"..it AIN'T EASY living here and why do we all do it? Everyone has a different answer..but this show gives you just one example what happens in a roommate situation sometimes....BTW: if you have Amazon Digital, "Dawson's Creek", all 6 seasons are FREE on this site

Cheers..

I am absolutely gutted over this series being cancelled. I think this show is brilliant and campy fun. James Van Der Beek playing himself and mocking himself is hilarious....I have never liked him before this show and this show made me realize how fun he is. Love the whole cast and their interactions with each other. I even love the stalker neighbor girl and the voyeur neighbor guy! I love the whole good girl vs bad girl thing and how the two girls are so different yet "get" each other so much at the same time. Would definitely recommend this to anyone with a darker sense of humor.

I liked Jessica Jones so went looking for more. This is different although equally dry and acidic. It's very funny with few down moments, Krysten Ritter's timing is almost as flawless as Julia Louis-Dreyfuss'. Not as nasty as Shameless but just as amusing.

My husband and I originally thought this show in commercials looked really dumb but then we happened upon an episode and REALLY love this show so we ordered these back episodes to catch ourselves up. It is hillarious! Highly recommend!!!

I like that they integrate James Van der Beek into the show as himself, a rich actor living in New York. It gives the show an edge. The relatioship between James Van der Beek, a city guy with little to no feelings and the b**** from apt 23 a city girl with little to no feelings, exes of one another, makes the show comical alongside the difference of opinions between the b**** from apt 23 and her roomie the girl from a small town with small town values. The young ladies see life from the vantage point of one although staying true their identities and not changing. Which leaves the show with continual plot of difference of opinions between them, the basis for the show.

The writing is new age, unconvetional an almost to real plot which make show unique or the writing lazy (really a matter of perspective). The show is entairtaining but the atmosphere is not a positive as the young lady, the b*** from apt 23 is young lady in her mid 20's who is irresponsible and manipulative of people. People like her eventually grow up and leave their immature, irresponsible ways behinds or amount to career criminals. .

What does make the show interesting is that b**** from apt 23 displays genius abilities in one of the episodes when she posses as the new magazine editor of some magazine and starts firing people left and right with upmost confidence. She really sticks her guns in order to place James Van der Beek in the cover page of the issue of sexiest man alive in which she is succesful. This is the work of genius which leaves to believe that she is a genius and can certainly amount to much more (although not likely to happen because personal growth is not what the show is about but rather a young irresponsible manupulative adult) .
