Somehow, I never read this when I was in school. It seems the sort of book that teachers make you read.

All of the characters in the play are flawed. The way Helmer is so quick to condemn Nora, and then a few minutes later tells her he forgives her. Why would he think she would forgive him for saying so many horrible things? And for so much of the play, Nora seems to delight as being seen as a silly, flighty woman. This makes her speech at the end a little confusing. If she resents being treated that way, why act that way?

This was a quick read. I read it all in about one hour. I enjoyed reading it. The play gave me a lot to think about.

I have been seeing references to this book for years in other books I have read. I had to find out what the hype was all about. I"m glad I did. What at first glance seems to be a women's liberation movement piece is far more than that. There are lessons to be learned from this and I spent many hours digesting what I read. I wish I had read it years ago.

I bought this because I am of Norwegian ancestry and had never read Ibsen. It's a time capsule and eye opening. Great story that you first think you'd rather be spraying wasp nests in the house eaves while standing on a 12' ladder than reading this but i stuck with it and it has a great ending. Supposedly extremely controversial at the time.

Wasn't sure I could appreciate a story in play form but my granddaughter recommended it so I had to read it. I was pleasantly surprised! The story is short but very well done! I found myself not wanting to put it down! It made me wish that Ibsen had followed it up with a sequel!

I read this book in high school when I was maybe 15-17, at the time I thought it was horrible that Torvald treated Nora like a child, then Nora, trying to find herself, left her children behind without even saying goodbye, and the rest of the story line went over my head. Reading it at 22 years old I understand it better now I feel. Torvald was just as out of touch with things as Nora, the only difference was he had learned the tools for survival in the real world.

In the end this is a book anyone and everyone should read.

A great classic that I had never read before. We read this for
our book group and the members enjoyed it very much. It was
short, and easy to read with many timely messages that apply
toda, even though it was written many years ago!

Good copy, free (what's better than that). Obviously it wasn't the edition we followed in class but I was able to keep up. Translated well. Be sure to inform your teacher or professor that it is a kindle version specifically for works cited and in paragraph quotation purposes. Mla has a kindle citation guideline on their website. Powerful play. Amusing at points. Happy purchase.

I enjoyed this, and I used it for my honors English report. It was a short play (about 165 pages) and was entertaining.

It's theme is about becoming yourself but that isn't truly expressed until the end.
