I used Dede Wilson's The Wedding Cake Book for my oldest daughter's wedding, and the cake turned out so well that I thought I would buy her birthday cake book. I was not disappointed. The recipes are easy to follow, and DELICIOUS!. Her decorating ideas range from super-simple, to schemes that are a bit beyond me as a home baker. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a reference book for yummy celebration cakes.

I noticed one other reviewer sent their book back and that's tempting for me as well. The decorating ideas are very uninspired and there is nothing out of the ordinary with the recipes either. The cake on the cover is about as exciting as it gets. A free Google search would yield a lot more exciting results. Let's just say if I had leafed through it in the bookstore, it would never have made it to the check out counter.

The recipes are great in this book. I have looked at lots of cake books and cake recipes and these seemed to be the best. This book gives you a great verity of cakes, icings, and even fillings. Some of the recipes are very unique. This book also provide interesting ideas for decorating that are attractive and also are not overly complicated. Perfect for a person who want a great looking cake but doesn't want to spend half the day decorating it.

Great book to add to your baking library. Lots of good ideas for 75 wonderful recipes. It provides recipes that can be mixed and matched to create your birthday cakes. The book has great tips for baking, piping and other useful ideas. My daughter and I are considering opening a bakery. She loves to bake and I love to decorate. We will make a good team and this book will be one of our greatest resources.

this book was surprisingly small! Not that size matters...
the book wasn't up to my expectations. The format made it look like it was published in 1980. Pictures were grainy, cakes were old fashioned looking. I'll be honest, i didn't even try a recipe. The book is on it's way back to Amazon.
