Using a USB 3.0 portable HDD powered by a second USB 2.0 cable, I achieved the following read speeds. I only checked read speed. I get speeds of 120MB/s using my gaming PC which has an AM3+ ASUS motherboard with onboard USB 3.0 ports.

This test is using a Dell Studio 540s motherboard PCI-e x1 slot.

Integrated USB 3.0 ports (rear): ~80MB/s read
USB 3.0 header to front USB 3.0 ports: ~40MB/s read

I'm not sure why this card is 1/2 the speed going through the front USB ports.

Pros: cheap, fits PCI-e x1 slot well, black bracket looks nice.

Cons: rather slow. Drivers aren't provided by windows update service, but they are provided to on a disc. I don't have a disc drive on the computer I installed this in, so had to search online.

I'm just happy to finally be able to use the front USB ports on my media center.

Who Knows It Won't Install. Tedious.

I'm an I.T. professional. With my PC off, I installed this card, its molex power connector AND a front-panel 20-pin USB connector. Then I turned on the machine. Most unusually, WIndows 10 did NOT "find" the new hardware. I ran the software provided on the "baby" CD. That ran and ran and ran and then said: " Drivers bad." Nothing else. Then I went online and found the ORICO driver zip file for this device. Downloaded and ran THAT. After another interminable wait, THIS software said: "No device installed or found."

So who knows if this is "a good product" or not, since it won't install. There's a half hour of my life I'll never get back.

On an older machine running Windows 10, I plugged the power connector into the expansion card before installing it. When I inserted the card into the motherboard, the machine booted! I've always left the machine plugged in but turned off to maintain the ground connection while working inside to prevent problems with static. I'm re-thinking that now. Card works great with my Seagate backup drive. Way faster than USB 2.0.

They sell you a piece of hardware and then set you off on your own to find drivers. Sure it comes with a CD. but who knows whats actually on it since all of the installers are corrupted. DO NOT BUY. if you already bought, Congratulations! You thought you were getting a USB 3.0 card, when what you actually purchased is an adventure! Filled with twists and turns, some chinese translation, a WHOLE lot of reading and perhaps a curse word or two. GOOD LUCK!

I ordered this device because I have a Corsair 200M-Tower Case and it came with a USB 3.0 Header Panel but my board, because I was budgeting didn't have a 20-Pin Connector port. Silly me!

So when I got this device, I first installed the drivers that the manufacturer kindly supported to me via E-Mail and WITHOUT ME ASKING FOR IT! WOW! Great Customer Service, right? So after installing the driver, I shut down the PC, installed the card, and connected my USB 3.0 20-Pin Header connector, a 4-Pin POWER connector from the PSU and closed it up, turned it back on. Within seconds, Windows 8 64-Bit acknowledged the new device, and my device was ready to use.

I've tried all the ports, and the USB 3.0 Connectivity and Transfer speed is VERY FAST. I suspected that because the 20-Pin connector was on the PCI Card, that it would be hindered in speed, but I was wrong. I was able to transfer 15GB of data to my USB 3.0 Seagate Ext HDD in approx 4-5 Minutes. INCREDIBLE!

Normally via USB 3.0, that task would take more like 20 Minutes. I can even play some games via the USB 3.0 Connectors on this card, like League of Legends, World of Warcraft, Warframe which is actually still in Beta, and is a graphically demanding title.

This card gets my Adamplex Seal of Approval. The only reason why I give it 4 stars is because I didn't quite understand the need for the small USB 3.0 program it comes with. Apparently it monitors USB speeds and devices but it looks outdated and cheaply developed. The manufacturer should steer clear of small apps like these as most tech enthusiasts require a really good reason to run any kind of small apps like these, we don't simply like to have them because they came with the driver.

1-10, 1- Being "BAD", 10 Being "Awesome"

Quality: 8 (The device looks very well built and doesn't feel cheap in your hands)
Connectivity: 9 (Very open, but I'd like to see a different source of power in the future)
Software: 7 (Get the latest from the manufacturer. Not a fan of the app, but you're not forced to use it)
Functionality: 10 (After more than a week of use, I've yet to have even a single error or I/O problem)
Style: 10 (I love that it comes with a soot black-metal I/O face, both low-profile and regular profile, and the blue power board color is awesome in ANY PC environment)

Works Flawlessly Right out of the Box.

I unpacked it, installed it in the pcie-mini slot, plugged in the USB 3.0 cable and power connector, and voilá, my system immediately installed the driver without any need whatever for me to intervene. No driver download or installation CD required. All USB 3.0 ports, both the two resident rear ones and the two front ones that were factory installed and that I had temporarily disconnected to use the single USB 3.0 header on the motherboard for a combo card reader/USB 3.0 and 2.0 dashboard, were fully powered and all work just fine. End of story, at least so far.The single additional thing I had to do was buy a male-female Molex V-connector extension because the multiple unused female Molex connectors in my case weren't long enough to reach the card. Extra cost $2.99, much of which I could have avoided had I had the foresight to anticipate this minor problem and bought the extension cable @amazon.com for as little as $0.65!

The card itself works pretty well. The driver disk would not load. It said the driver file was corrupted. Finding the drivers on line was not an easy task. Finally found them, but it kept reporting an error in installing. I uninstalled the card, connected it up again and windows 7 found the drivers and then that card was able to be used.

Runs fine, but getting there has been a hassle.
