My 2 year old loves to have sword fights with my eight year old son so I got this for him for his Birthday. In fact I should have made him open this last because after he opened it he didn’t care about any of his other gifts. The sword lights up blue and has sound and makes the sword that much more fun!
I purchased this for my 7 yo son to use as part of his Halloween costume (as Frodo). He loves it, and it was super cute with the costume. As an added bonus, the glowing feature was an added visibility factor for trick or treating (yes, you have to keep pushing the button to make it glow but...he.s 7. He DID keep pushing the button to make it glow). The sounds and light make it really cool and fun, and it looks quite nice.
It is pretty well constructed as a kids toy. My kids are old enough to get that you can't endlessly whack away with plastic things or they'll break, if a kid is liable to do this I imagine that it would break. But it is decent plastic and will take some rough handling. (My kids broke the cheap costume quality Aragorn sword I got them, but they did not break this one. So it can stand up to playing.)
Cheaply made and expensive. Ok for younger kids but not my 14 year old. Would have been happier with a homemade wooden one with spray paint and a blue LED bulb.
The blue light on this thing is dull. It does make sounds when you move the sword, but really it is not worth what they are selling it for. It's just okay. I bought it for my 6 year old son because he loves "The hobbit". Long story short; it's too expensive for a six year old and the quality is just ok. Not fantastic. I wouldn't pay this much for something like this again.
Purchased this as an alternative to the $125 Bilbo sword my 8 yr old son picked out of a catalog received in the mail. It has provided hours of imaginative play and can even hold its own against light sabers and ninja swords! It turns blue with the press of a button and when it is waved or slashed through the air, it makes clashing noises. It did bend at the base of the blade during some rough play, but it flexed back without leaving a crease in the plastic and seemingly without losing its rigidity. The whole neighborhood wants to play with it.
I plan on using this sword for my hobbit cosplay for Comic Con.
I like the sword a lot. It is small enough to hold comfortably and not be disturbing. It is light enough not to tire your arm out after a while. I love that you can make it light up with the click of a button. However, I don't like the constant sword noises it makes everytime you move it and there's no way to turn that off while still being able to turn the light on. It is a children's toy so that's more of a personal thing.
My 6 year old cousin loves it and that's the point so I'll be giving it to her when I'm done with it.
Overall, this sword is good for what I needed it for and I would definitely recommend it for children and, of course, hobbit cosplays.
Most awesome LOTR/Hobbit toy. It does all the things it says, lights up blue, but really blue, not a piece of junk. The sound effects are of 2 blades hitting each other in battle which is great too. I will tell you that I can say it's sturdy too because my son had it hanging out the car window and it flew out into the street. For the amount of money this was I stopped the car to run back and get it and it survived.
