Contacted EVGA support, they thought there may have been damaged cpu pins, interestingly I see that in another review here. Generally I have been very happy with EVGA products. Returning the board and will update the review when the next one arrives.
Updated replacement board was sent out straight away, FEDEX delivered it on Saturday by actually throwing the box onto my porch from about 20 feet away, it tumbled down a couple of steps. my wife witnessed this, no doorbell ring, just kinda get close and tossed onto my porch. Probably should put up a backboard with a net for FEDEX deliveries. Wonder if that was the reason for the first board to be bad. Oh well on to the review.
First off my dealings with EVGA have always been good and support has always been good. I just cant recommend this board because of the layout of the board itself, the 90 degree connection points will cause you pain, this board does not fit properly even in the largest of PC cases. That said the board offers some great options.
The on board digital error code display is worth the additional money you pay for EVGA. Seriously, this is a time saver and you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to know what is going on. The on board power and reset switches are also great time savers. EVGA does a very good job with documentation, graphical call outs of almost the entire board. This is a feature of every board they sell and again for a builder this really is worth the extra money for the board.
Not every USB is 3.0 compatible, the label plate for the boards sound, usb, network is back with small lettering and not very legible, you need a lot of light to see the labels.
