Highly recommended. Its works great on my mid 2012 MacBook Pro (i7 quad core running OS X 10.8). I plugged it in and it worked perfectly, no driver installs, and all my existing software saw the drive and worked with it as expected.

Likes:
Works right out of the box (no drivers needed)
Very small
Very lightweight
Excellent for laptop users who need to carry it with them
No power supply needed (nor is any supplied)
USB 2.0 cable supplied (this is one of those special double headed cables, in case you have an older computer that can't sufficient power via one USB port, then yo would simply plug in the other tendril into another USB port, unlike other Blu-ray drives on the market, this second cable is long enough to reach all the way around to the other side of a laptop, for those that have one USB port on each side. On my MacBook Pro I have only used the one port, and have successfully burned dozens of perfectly functioning disks).
Tough aluminum enclosure seems able to take a lot of use and remain perfectly serviceable
Attractive (its a solid piece of aluminum with the center machined out, to house the drive) the drive has a black face and the rear panel is white plastic. (The drive is a conventional tray loaded design.)
Reliable operation with intense daily use (I've used it heavily every day since I purchased it, in fact it works so well that I'm in the process of making backups of all my archived data and it works very well).
Very reasonable price considering you get the drive which can read and write to Blu-ray, DVD and CD; a very nice, tough aluminum enclosure that is seamless and well built) and a USB 2 cable

Dislikes
Only one: Machined aluminum edges Edges feel almost sharp.

Received mine today, hooked it up to my new Mac Book Pro - Retina display and was pleased with the ease in installation. I had to (pay for) download a Blu-Ray player app for $40, but it works like a charm. No issues and worth the costs... Super simple set-up is always worth $$ to me..

I received the BLU RAY writer today and plugged it in and VOILA a blu ray on the MAC. It looks beautiful and works beautiful and
the BLU RAY movies are beautiful....I down loaded the MACGO software, they let you try it out first, so you can't lose. All in all
a great deal.

I bought this unit to work with my iMac and my Mac laptop. I read the other reviews about playing Blu-Ray video and knew I would have to pay for the software, but I tried it anyway. Yep, had to buy the player, the Mac Blu-Ray Player from MacGo. But, the player installed easily, recognized this unit, and so far works quite well.

But the main reason I bought the drive was to burn 50Gb blu-ray disks. I couldn't wait for the new formats, and went ahead and bought some disks to try it out. The first three 50Gb disks I burned went very fast (6x disks)! I am very happy with the drive.

Regarding sharp edges? Not a problem. Really.

The drive arrived and I immediately connected it per instructions. While I was in the process of ripping a BluRay disc, my computer determined that this drive was drawing too much power from my MacPro and disabled the drive. I was able to eject my original disc, and then loaded a blank disc. Sadly, the drive will not open again and my blank BluRay disc is stuck inside. My computer sees the drive, but the "open drive" command does not function. I have contacted the seller and am waiting to hear back about returning the drive. They'll be getting a bonus Memorex BluRay blank disc, if THEY can get the drive to open. There is no manual control to open the tray. Therefore, I purchased a Samsung drive as a replacement and will receive in a couple of days. Updates to follow. UPDATE: Seller accepted my request for return of the drive. I sent it to them, but have not received any word or any credit to my bank account. I certainly hope I'm not going to have even more trouble over this drive in trying to collect my refund. Samsung drive works okay. Doesn't seem to be a lot of options for external blu-ray drives/writers for Mac ... UPDATE #2 - Have been ignored by Seller and have received no refund. I filed a claim with Amazon to try to get my refund. Don't deal with this Seller. UPDATE #3 - The Seller responded to my post about an hour after I wrote it, and a credit appeared on my bank account for the purchase price, but not for the shipping for the purchase, or shipping for the return of the item.

Ordered this drive a couple weeks ago to go with the refurbished 15" MacBook Pro I just purchased from Apple (late 2013 model). Since the newer Macs do not come with drives built in them anymore, I needed an external Blu-Ray drive so my kids could watch movies on it. This drive does what it claims to do except one thing. As others have mentioned, I too, had issues getting any disks to eject. I tried several routes to get it to work but found the only solution to be launching "disk utility" to make the operating system eject the disk. This wasn't good enough for me for the money I paid and I didn't want my kids to come get me every time they needed to eject a disk. Plus, in order to watch Blu-Ray's I was gonna need to drop an additional $40 for the Mac-Blu-Ray Player software that many have recommended. After posting a question on this page about the disk eject issue, someone else that had purchased this SeaTech model told me what he did to solve the eject disk issue: he returned the SeaTech model and purchased the MCE Super Drive. So that's what I did...I returned the SeaTech and ordered the MCE Super BluDrive for 5 reasons :

(1) It is highly recommended by a MacWorld article found here: http://www.macworld.com/article/2042431/watch-and-rip-blu-ray-movies-on-your-mac.html

(2) It is cheaper ($80) but just as good.

(3) It has a slot loading instead of tray loading drive. Much better for kids.

(4) It comes bundled with the popular Mac-Blu-Ray software (life-time license for just $20).

(5) It ejects disks normally like it should.

You can find the MCE Super-BluDrive here: http://store.mcetech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?
