It's the ORIGINAL

I have to wonder just how some people thought this was real. It certainly seemed to be a possibility and I guess it was a different time back in 1938. I just had to question the "news" reports and how quickly they came about. I mean, something strange appeared to crash into the earth's atmosphere and a minute later they are interviewing a farmer and a scientist at the scene of the crash. Seems someone would have questioned how they were able to put together these reports so fast from around the US. Either way, like history this is a good read/listen. It's a nice look into our past and an interesting subject too.

The War of the Worlds is an episode of the American radio drama anthology series The Mercury Theatre on the Air. It was performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938, and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. Directed and narrated by actor and future filmmaker Orson Welles, the episode was an adaptation of H. G. Wells's novel The War of the Worlds.
That being said, the show was preformed perfectly, flawlessly. If you have never listened to this before, now is your chance to do so in this remastered version. Cleaner and crisper sounding than ever before.
I won't go into spoilers of the show itself. Keep in mind, however that the night it aired people paniced and there was some cases of xhaos in the streets. Today, of course that probably would not happen, or would it. This kind of Radio Drama is no longer done for broadcast anymore. But if you want a true tingle up and down your spine, H.G. Wells War of the Worlds is a Great place to start.

The radio version of The War of the Worlds directed by Orson Welles in October 1938 is one of the most famous radio broadcasts of all time. This remastered version makes the audio sound much better than the original record. When Radio Spirits did their own remaster in the 1990's, they screwed up big-time in my view. The company or individual who did the remaster being reviewed did a perfect job.

The good old radio days. Sit back an relax and listen to a good broadcast of horror from the past. Just think what it was like to here this story in homes in 1938 not knowing what was going on. People were scared to death because they only heard the horror and not the break telling them this was only a radio play. Orson Welles was a genies at radio. Enjoy.

I enjoyed listening to this well preserved recording of an often forgotten and misunderstood historical event. While most humans appear to believe that the "War of the Worlds" was merely a "radio drama", this compelling piece of evidence should help correct any misunderstandings regarding the Martian Invasion of '38.

iN 1938 this was the best program of the year. On Halloween, for the people that didn't start at the beginning of the broadcast, they were duped into thinking we were actually being invaded. You'll like 27 year old Orson Welles.
