Not a perfect solution but certainly good enough to mount my media card reader.

I bought this mounting bracket to mount a Sabrent 3.5 card reader in my new build. I chose it over the plastic ones that are available and don't regret that decision, I just prefer mounting stuff in metal for longevity sake. I'm taking a star off because the included plastic bezel looks pretty cheap and doesn't clip to the metal frame quite as solidly as I would expect, however, once everything is in the case and screwed down nothing really moves, so it should be fine.

One thing to note, which kind of threw me off for a minute or two, is that the card reader won't sit flush in the faceplate, it actually has to sit snugged up behind it. Since my case has a door in front, this is actually a plus for me as I can keep a stubby usb bluetooth dongle plugged in full time in that spot. I have just enough clearance to still close the case door. I only mention it because it confused me a bit when I was trying to poke the card reader into the bezel hole and it simply wouldn't go. Just clip the bezel to the metal frame, install the car reader behind it, and slide the whole works into your case.

Junk not worth the RMA

things to note about this product.

--the front plastic does not sit flush with your 3.5" card reader, but rather forces the reader to sit behind the edge
--the front plastic has a bevel on the bottom left that is 1.25-1.5" long, throwing off any attempt at symmetry
--the holes for mounting the adapter in the 5.25" bay does not align the plastic front properly with my Corsair C70 tower

this will be added to the pile of worthless crap I keep for spare parts
I will be buying another DIFFERENT product

This product is not very well designed/built for the purpose I was looking for. The front black plate is plastic, and is not attached to the metal frame. This is normally okay, but this product is cheaply made for the price I paid... Sorry...

Nice and simple. Does the job well. I didn't need the plug adaptor it came with, but for some people I could see that being a really nice bonus.
It seems sturdy enough, and everything lined up properly. I'm pretty sure the edges were beveled or rounded over so I didn't feel like I was going to razor my hands apart when using it. (I don't remember exactly about how the edges are, but I do remember not being worried when I was handling it, which is more than I can say for many computer cases I've used)

Like many said, it's basically a floppy drive adapter. It gets the job done, and seems to work just fine with my Cooler Master case's screwless optical drive slots. Sadly with my Cooler Master HAF case, I had to use the included floppy disk plate because the case's 5-to-3-inch plate wouldn't work with it. Is that a case design flaw? Is the 3" portion too close to front? I can't really say. Just thought it's worth a mention.

Works good, like the metal construction internally - better than the all plastic ones out there. Plastic bezel on the front (that takes up the un-used space in a 5.25" drive bay) fits loosely, sometimes wants to pop off when I take the computer apart for it's semi-annual De-dusting. A little clear RTV took care of that.

Excellent Fit - Did the Job

I bought this so that I could mount a 3.5" USB 3.0 port panel in my HP Z400. It is important to note that the Z400 uses a slide-in bracket approach to the 5.25 bays. You put 2 of their screws in your DVD drive (typically) and slide in in and it locks in place. This means that there is no margin for error. You do not have any leeway in the front-to-back positioning of your 5.25" device. And you snap the front bezel on over the device, so if it is not correctly positioned, you would not be able to get the front panel on.

I am happy to report that the alignment of this mounting bracket is perfect. This adapter sits at exactly the same depth as my Blu-ray drive and about 0.5 mm further in than the remaining panel cover (this is normal).

Additionally, the guide holes for screwing into the inner portion that accommodates the 3.5" device are large enough to fit a magnetic screwdriver head, which is pretty much necessary since you have to get the screw through those holes and into the inner section. There is no way you would be able to hold the screw in place.

It turns out that it is far less expensive to use this in conjunction with a 3.5" USB 3.0 port panel than to buy a native 5.25" panel. So if you were looking at options, I would go with this and the 3.5" panel.
