Reliable Battery Backup, Optimized Outlet Array, AVR and Illuminated LCD Screen
This UPS system will support an energy-efficient desktop computer and LCD monitor (75 W load) for up to 90 minutes during an outage. At half-load (450 W), this UPS will provide run-time for up to 10 minutes.
With the optimized outlet array, 5 outlets have both battery backup and surge/noise protection, and 5 have surge/noise protection without battery backup. The 'surge-only' outlets allow you to connect additional equipment without overloading the UPS or reducing the backup runtime available during an outage. Select outlets have extra-wide spacing to accommodate bulky AC adapters without blocking adjacent outlets.
In locations with chronic voltage problems, frequent switching to battery drains reserve power and shortens battery life. This UPS system has a feature called automatic voltage regulation (AVR) that solves the problem. The UPS detects when input voltage is out of bounds and corrects it without using the battery.
All Tripp Lite UPS systems also include built-in surge protection and noise filtering to shield your equipment from destructive transient voltages and electromagnetic (EMI/RFI) line noise.
The illuminated LCD allows for the user to manage the UPS and provides easy access to detailed UPS settings and information. The LCD shows a variety of helpful data, including input/output voltage, battery voltage, input/output frequency, load/charge level meters, output load percentage, output load wattage, power status, battery status, AVR status and estimated battery backup runtime in minutes.
Data Line Protection, Flexible Management, 3-Year Warranty and $250K Insurance
Data lines connected to your equipment represent an unlocked 'back door', allowing surges to enter and damage or destroy sensitive electronic components. In addition to protecting against surges on the AC power line, this UPS system protects your equipment against surges on connected phone, network and coaxial lines. The RJ45 jacks protect a phone, analog modem, DSL modem or Ethernet network line. The coaxial connectors protect a cable TV, satellite or cable modem line.
Connect your computer to the HID-compliant USB port on the UPS to use your computer's built-in power management features or Tripp Lite's free PowerAlert software. PowerAlert provides enhanced features like automatic file saves, event notification, logging, advanced device control and an SNMP agent that supports centralized management. You can always download the latest version of PowerAlert at Tripp Lite's website.
This UPS system saves energy, produces less heat, shrinks your carbon footprint and reduces annual operating costs. The batteries are user-replaceable and completely recyclable.

I contacted Tripp Lite and they were very helpful. Unfortunatly, something with the electronics was bad. Amazon was quick to replace the unit. Can't say enough about the good support I got from both Amazon and Tripp lite.

The first SMART100LCDT that I received from Amazon had a strong obnoxious chemical smell that did not improve even after 3 weeks out of the box. The smell was bad enough that I was concerned about the effect of long-term exposure on my health. I exchanged the UPS with Tripp Lite for another SMART100LCDT.
The second SMART100LCDT smells almost as bad as the first. The smell has diminished slightly after a month but is still strong enough to be bothersome. The UPS is under my desk in a small office, only a few feet away from where I sit. The smell might be tolerable in an open environment with good air circulation.
I've used about a dozen UPS's from other manufacturers over the years at home and at work. None of them have smelled bad.
