Wish they'd go back to the old recipe

Out of the full line of Nature Valley crunchy granola bars, these are my favorite. There's just enough dark chocolate to make them taste more like a sweet snack than something that's actually pretty good for you. I do wish, however, that they hadn't changed the recipe to make these "easier to bite". I find that I get a ton of crumbs and broken pieces before I even open the package, and when eating, they make a mess. Even though the original recipe may have been super-crunchy and a little difficult to break off, I prefer them and the fact that I could break off a piece at a time while the bars were inside the package, and had much less mess, and definitely didn't lose as much of the bar to crumbs inside the wrapper.

Nature Valley's crunchy granola bars are a great and healthy treat.

In this 24-pack box there are 8 of each variety, and within each wrapper are two bars. The bars about an 1.5" wide and 5" long. These bars are very crunchy and snap apart easily, but can be a little tough to chew if you have poor teeth. Despite their crunchy-ness they are not dry. Since they are not chewy they're ideal for travel and won't melt or get sticky.

Despite offering three flavors they taste fairly similar with just a hint of peanut butter, honey, or brown sugar (depending on the flavor). They taste very hearty and rich in grains, and they are fairly filling.

The bars are made of all natural ingredients and contain only 190 calories per serving (2 bars).

All in all... a great anytime snack.

This is yummy but not very healthy

I was able to take advantage of some Amazon coupon stacking, making it an amazing deal. I see these at grocery stores and warehouses for around 50 cents per pack, and was able to get these for about 30 cents a pack...I am very pleased with the deal I got.

I took the advice of some of the reviewers and tried rinsing this with water, and holy moley does it takes a lot better! I think the original is too sweet, and too crunchy. Rinsing or dipping these in water prevents the crunch from getting everywhere and makes it less sweet. Now, I have a cup of water with me so I can dip this in water while I watch TV. Thank you, fellow Amazon reviewers for this awesome suggestion!

I do think it is important for prospective buyers to know that THIS IS NOT A HEALTHY SNACK. While it is cholesterol free, it does have saturated fats, waaaay too much sugar, and very little fiber. To put it in perspective, one serving of an original Krispy Kreme donut has 22g of carbohydrates and one serving of this stuff has 29 g of carbohydrates (only 2g of which is fiber). I'm not saying go out and buy a donut, because this is still a better alternative as it is more satisfying...but just be aware that this is at best just a yummy snack that is just *ok* for you and to enjoy it in moderation. It is pretty addicting after all! Nature Valley should really make one that is low in sugar and high in fiber.

Actually this is for 12 servings per box, calling it a 24-count box is misleading

One serving is one package, there are 12 packages per box. It's pretty much false advertising (by Nature Valley) to say it's 24-count boxes. Each serving has 2 thin crunchy granola bars in it so that's how they get away with it.

With that being said I feel this was a great price at the time I purchased it. These are fresh and just as tasty as when you buy them in any grocery store. I never used to like crunchy granola bars (I always preferred the chewy kind) until mom started buying these and keeping them in the pantry. I tried it one day after avoiding them for a while and it tasted pretty good. I wasn't all that keen on the hardness of the granola but I got used to it and started eating them more often.

One thing I do not like about these is how the bars break up on the edges and cause the granola to settle into the wrapper. So if you aren't careful when pulling a bar out bits of granola get everywhere on your table. It's a pain to always have to clean up after this snack.

Excellent product and a good price. If you have not tried "prime pantry" yet, you are missing out. Not only is there a great selection of products, it actually saves you money by keeping you focused on your shopping list and prioritizing the items. One of the biggest expenses for my family is buying as many item on impulse as we do our shopping list. Prime pantry removes the temptation of buying items, buy color, packing, or other sales gimmicks. It also has a very cool calculator that tells you exactly how much room is left in your pantry box, and makes excellent suggestions for what to fill it with. Try it, you won't be disappointed. How can you beat grocery shopping from home on your computer?

Great, But the Price Used to Be Much Better

I got addicted to these at the supermarket, as they're relatively healthy and fill my chocolate need. About a year or so ago, I signed up for these via Subscribe and Save, as I found the price wound up being cheaper than getting them at the supermarket -- that was when it was around $15 w/the discount. Now the price basically $25 w/the discount, and it's simply not worth it. Save your money, and buy them on sale at the supermarket for $2-$2.50/box. $4+/box is insane, especially when this is supposed to be a 'bulk' item that saves you money when buying in large quantities.

Dark & not overly sweet!

I love these granola bar brand and I love chocolate! What I despise is overly sweet chocolate stuff, which these bars are NOT!
Rather addictive, which would normally be bad, but since they contains NO HFCS and keep the calorie count down below 200, these are a WIN!
