This show had me hooked from the first 30 seconds of the pilot. I just started watching it about 2 weeks ago, and love it so much that I finished all four free seasons and bought the TV pass so I could see season 5. The stories are hilarious, and the cast is just perfect. How has it taken me so long to find this show?? I am so glad that I did! A bonus is that it is genuinely funny without having to rely on crude humor or dumbed down potty talk.... it is rare these days to find a show that is original, witty, and so addictive all in one. This is my new favorite show - great way tp unwind at the end of a long work day. Watch it, you will not be disappointed (and at approximately 22 minutes an episode, what do you have to lose? Watch it!).

As a government employee, I love Parks and Recreation and see a little Leslie Knope in me. Unlike Michael Scott from the Office, I don't cringe at identifying with Amy Poehler's character. The entire cast is a great ensemble and continues the excellent chemistry. Between Ron's libertarianism, Chris's overwhelming optimism, Leslie's faith in government's potential good, Ben's cute nerdiness, Tom's pop culture obsession, Andy's naiveté, April's millennial cynicism, Ann's realistic views, Jerry's (or should I say Gary?) bumbling, and Donna's reactions, they all pull the show together and make it a lot of fun.

I especially liked the cameos in this season, particularly the political entities appearing in the season premiere.

If you are new to the show, don't start with season 5. Start with season 1 and work your way to really enjoying season 5.

My addiction started one night last year when I was on Netflix and saw seasons 1-4 on there. I had been a fan of Amy Poehler for a while and heard she was going to be doing this show but must admit, I did not think I was going to like it so I didn't watch. I thought, a show about people in a local government branch? Yuck! Boy was I wrong!I am so glad I decided to, "just watch one episode to see if you like it and then go to bed." I ended up watching all 4 seasons in 3 nights and then season 5 started up so I watched every week. A show has never made me laugh out loud consistently like this show has. There are times I have had tears streaming down my face unable to breathe from laughing so hard. In my opinion, this is the best comedy, or show for that matter, on TV with the most amazing cast and the most brilliant writers. I am now convinced this show has been robbed of many Emmy nominations. And how Amy Poehler has not won an Emmy after being nominated for this boggles my mind! I am so in love I had to buy all the seasons on DVD and can't wait for season 6 to start up in a couple of weeks! Parks and Recreation IS must see TV! Long live Zorp!

Parks and Rec is the most consistently funny, and well written sitcom I've ever seen. Every episode makes me laugh more than any other show, and most episodes pull at my tiny heart-strings, too. Any time I try to start watching a new show, like Community or 30 Rock, I always subconsciously compare it to Parks and Rec, and I end up not liking the show as much.
Each character is so wonderfully written and perfectly cast. I started watching because I liked Rashida Jones from The Office, and Aubrey Plaza from Funny People. I instantly liked Nick Offerman's Ron Swanson and Aziz Ansari's Tom Haverford. As I continued to watch, I developed a man-crush on Chris Pratt's Andy Dwyre. And now I actively seek out other shows and movies with Amy Poehler and Adam Scott (Party Down is amazing, too!) Even the side characters on the show are incredibly funny. Perd Hapley, Jean-Ralphio, Bobby Newport, Louis C.K.'s Officer Dave...
Every joke is perfectly delivered, and the recurring bits (Lil Sebastian, Mouse Rat songs, Public Forums, Ron eating meat, Leslie eating waffles, Ben eating calzones, Tom calling eggs "future birds", everyone on the show getting hilariously drunk, Andy's stupidity "They have a buffet inside? I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW YOU COULD DO THAT!", April being mean to Ann "Man Perkins", Leslie being nice to Ann "Your ambiguous ethnic blend perfectly represents the dream of the American melting pot", Chris "literally" losing his mind, Ben looking at the camera after everything anyone says, Donna treating herself, and Jerry being the worst) are all what keeps me wanting more.
Do yourself a favor, watch this show. The first season wasn't as good as the rest, so don't be discouraged. If you're wondering what the very best episodes are, I'll name a few of my favorites: "Flu Season", "The Fight", "Pawnee Zoo", "Rock Show", "Lil Sebastian", "The Debate", "Pawnee Rangers", "Fancy Party", and either of the "Ron and Tammy" episodes.

I heard a lot about this show from people I know but it was already many years on so I didn't see the point in starting. Then I saw it in a list of Prime shows and gave it a try. I was unsure at first until the characters grew on me. I love it. I watched seasons through five, waiting on six and seven to go Prime. Just recently I checked back what did I find but Amazon removed all seasons from Prime listings. Reminds me of one of the reasons I left Netflix a few years back.

I love this show! I just started watching it a month ago because it was free with my amazon prime membership. Boy have I been missing out! This is literally one of the funniest shows I have ever watched. All of the cast and characters are great and work great together, they are totally hilarious. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.
