Great car seat over all !!

Great car seat over all !!
I got this for my 8 month old baby so I am using it as a rear facing car seat, eventually to a forward facing car seat. When I opened the box I did not have to assemble anything just the cup holder that snaps on and off easily. Well padded comes with extra padding that can be adjusted easily. Every thing can be removed and washed and put back together easy. I would not dry it though. I don't think it would work for a newborn baby, just because I don't think the shoulder straps would get low enough for that small of a baby. Nor would the head rest get low enough. My daughter is 22 pounds and 8 months old. I have the straps on the one right above the lowest one. And the head rest is in the lowest setting. All the straps and headrest is very easily adjustable. Easier than her infant car seat. The carseat is easy to install just read the directions. You can use the car seat belt or the latches that are attached to the carseat. My daughter sits as comfortably as she can, being tied down in a car seat anyhow. Over all I think that this car seat will work well for us, and hopefully for a long time. I only gave it 4 stars because it says for 5-40 lbs and I really don't think I would use it for any baby under 15-20 lbs.

This is an all around good car seat. It fits rear-facing in my 2009 Corolla pretty well. We did have to move the passenger seat up though. The price was really great and it seems really secure. Our daughter is 3 months old and fits okay. We've decided to go back to her infant carrier in my car until she fits better. She has a Graco Milestone convertible seat in my husband's car. Honestly, I prefer that one but it was over $200 and we didn't want to spend that twice.

Pros:
Affordable
Fits In my compact car
Once we get our 3 month in the car seat, she seems comfortable and has slept in it.
The purple is very pretty but not too over-the-top girly. We like that a lot.

Cons:
Doesn't fit babies under 15 pounds very well.
It's difficult to install and required a lot of force to tighten the latch system compared to graco seats. You also have to remove part of the cover to install the latch system or seat belt rear facing.
Unlike her graco, to add the cup holder, you have to remove part of the cover on the side and it was a pain to pull back over to secure it.
The harness is also more difficult to tighten. And the chest clip is considerably huge compared to others. Also when the seat is rear facing, it is incredibly difficult to tighten because the tightening strap is partially covered by the seat.
The infant padding doesn't fit in the car seat with the head support in the two lowest positions. This confuses me because it is infant support padding so you think it would fit with the head support being in the lower positions for an infant.

Overral, it's a good extra seat to have. It was affordable and fits my compact car. All of the cons, are more of inconveniences right now. We will go back to using this seat in a month or two when it will be easier to get her in and out.

Updated:

We've been using this car seat again for over a month and I love it now. I am glad that I decided to keep it. I had to use a pool noodle to install it properly in my car. My daughter who is around 6 months old now almost falls asleep in it every time. I was previously annoyed with the tighter tension in the straps, but I feel like she is much safer in it than her infant seat. It just takes a little longer to secure her than the car seat in my husbands car. Now that she's bigger, she fits snugly with the infant padding. I would definitely recommend this car seat to a family looking for a basic convertible car seat.

Love this seat! We have two in the back seat of my Trail Blazer and there is still room between for our older son to sit. So easy to install and strapping in our girls is a breeze. We've never had a problem with tightening, pull strap glides easily. Coushions seem comfortable for our LOs which is perfect for our long road trips. Head rest moves up easily to fit our tall 2 year old. And my most favorite part about these seats are the extra two pads for "infants" that fit securely around their bottoms to help keep them from sliding around/out during an accident (or if you just have wiggly babes). I even took them off our older ones seat and put them in our infants seats that's used in our other car! Love the idea!!! And then, of course, the colors...our girls love having their own color and they really are great shades, Not too bright!!

I read some complaints about the latch belt not "reaching" when used in rear facing position...that is not true if you put the belt through the appropriate area. The seat is clearly labeled...one area through the back of the seat is for "forward facing" and the area through the bottom of the seat is for "rear facing"...READ the handbook, and the sticker labels, and everything will work just like they say!

We already have 2 chicco car seats which are great but not a real option for air travel due to size and weight. So, after doing a lot of online research decided on Safety 1st. Could not be happier with the decision.
The seat is very light and is FAA approved (I had one steward actually ask to see the FAA sticker on the side of the seat at the time of boarding). It is very easy to install in a car or in the plane. In the plane you can instal it either rear of forward facing. As an advice I would recommend to instal it only as forward facing, this way you can reclined the seat more which will make it more comfortable for the baby, and believe me on a long intercontinental flight that all you care about.
Before and after the flight you have 2 options, either carry it on your shoulder/ back using one the seat's straps or buy an additional strap (u can find on amazon) and have the seat strapped to your carryon luggage. Technically u can have the baby in the seat while strapped to the carryon but is fairly close to the ground and I'm not sure how comfortable it would be for the baby (we took the stroller with us).
As a regular car seat I was honestly impressed, considering that is a fairly cheap car seat. We live in the south and it gets really hot in the summertime. The baby loves this seat because he doesn't heat up as much as he does in the Chicco. The padding is lighter but definitely enough to make it comfortable. The strapping system is not as fancy as in the Chicco and takes a little more effort to adjust everything but overall it does its job.
Hope this review helps clear some of the questions people have re air travel with a carseat.
