I'm the most gullible person who has ever lived, but I didn't believe a bit of this - at first. The more I watched, the more sense it made that the Amish just might need a bridge - protection and a liaison. Many churches have organized aid societies, and the Amish would be particularly vulnerable, so I do get the legitimacy Levi's role could play. I don't understand this Merlin person, however - what he was in prison for, and does he have church or family connection. He seems to be a mentally ill outpatient with clinically based delusions of grandeur who has an embarrassingly small disjointed pack (is two a pack?) Of "lost boys" who kind of fumble around being Mental Merlin's bitches. BTW, what kind of Amish name is Merlin? And why would Esther, who is not young and not gorgeous, single with two kids, play, humiliate, use and reject someone in the position Levi is in to make her (and her idiot brother) life better, and treat her like a queen? He's not a bad looking guy, seems like he's genuinely got the best interests of the community at heart, STILL seems soft on her, and I don't see her doing any better. If all she cares about is personal gain, as the crew claims, how could she turn her back on Levi? She blew it.

I hope this was intended as a parody. I watched about 10 minutes of the first episode, and was so bored -- and the premise so ridiculous -- I turned it off. I know there's a dark side to any culture, including the Amish, but if any part of this show is based on truth... I can't even finish that sentence. It's too surreal.

Thought we would be purchasing something to watch without all the bang bang and evil. This series is exactly like all the other garbage Hollywood is pouring out for families and Godly people to shut off after a couple episodes.

I live in the middle of a Amish Community, Lancaster County, PA. This show is so fake, just like "Breaking Amish" was. Shame on the producers of this show, using lies about the Amish to make money.

I knoe amish and mennonites . almost nothing on this show is real or true. the actors were born and raised amish and mennonite. but they are not true members of the church and would not be allowed to handle the money or any other church matters.

Go figure that the Amish community would have their own "mafia." I found the program very interesting, and quite hysterical, at the same time. Is this really true? It could be true, because it seems that many fundamentalist groups have their own "unconscious" not-so-good behaviors where they try to deny that it exists. So having a "mafia" would make sense to have someone else take care of it.

As the subject say this show is silly but not the worst thing I have ever seen. You are never sure how much is fake and how much of this show is real, but you know for sure it is not 100% real. It’s not a bad show to go into with no expectations and just veg out.
