Sweeping Generalizations Without Any First Hand Knowledge.

The producers of this documentary have an agenda to paint torture as a general practice among the U.S. military and government. Everyone agrees that Abu Ghraib was inhumane treatment and inappropriate and numerous people were punished for this incident. However, to insinuate that wholesale torture happens every day is a gross fabrication. Often, detainees are captured in very poor health - high blood pressure, hypertension, diabetes - many detainees are unaware of their conditions due to their own lack of health care. Military physicians and psychologists actually conduct thorough exams and administer medication in order to improve a detainees health. The basis of intelligence gathering is that you need a subject to talk with in order to gather said intelligence, if a detainee is mistreated, has failing health or dies, it deters from the intelligence gathering. Like many other documentaries, it seems the producers had access to some facts but then decided to paint their own narrative rather than talk with anyone with first hand knowledge.

BECAUSE THEY ARE DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY INVOLVED IN SOME CAPACITY IN THE DEATHS OF 2900 INNOCENT AMERICAN WOMEN - MEN & CHILDREN ON 9-11 ??? The USA Gov. needed to find out how many more terrorist cells were hiding in our country after
9-11. Yes these methods are needed to get information to keep america safe. Why are so many reviews not recognizing these factual reasons? How do you think Afganistan & Iraq military treats american prisoners? Highly doubt any detainees are innocent, and if so they should NOT be putting themselves in situations near the terrorist's. Only out of touch lib's will find this offensive.
War is not fun & games especially if a few thousand american innocent people died within a few hours.

Karma exacting its revenge is dependent on what was in the hearts and minds of those people who tortured prisoners. It is easy to sit back and make judgments. The act of war is atrocious and its consequence is equally so. Three thousand American families who watched or listened to their loved ones being tortured in the World Trade Center Buildings on 9/11 suffered along with their loved ones who died there. When a country is desperate for intelligence, anything goes. What I know is that the country who wins the war makes the rules for warfare. Do you think that bin Laden and his minions or Saddam Hussein and his Republican Guard only disliked our government? No, they disliked the American people as well. So while your heart bleeds for those detainees or prisoners tortured (as does mine, too) Karma will not get those torturers whose hearts and minds were focused on protecting the American people. Every American wants protection from an evil foreign enemy, we just can't stomach how that protection is accomplished. Jack Nicholson, in the movie "A Few Good Men" got it right when he said "You can't handle the truth!" and so it goes, and so it goes.

The documentary was well done. The flow was good, and the camera work was professional. Personally, I didn’t find the reenactments helpful. This was released in 2013, but apparently none of the doctors ever lost his license. They should have, and they should be tried in civilian courts then, where appropriate, imprisoned. Additionally, how about the enlisted men and women who carried out these tortures? I believe some of them were convicted of crimes and imprisoned. My question is: what kind of person could do these acts to other human beings? I mean both physicians and enlisted men and women. Reprehensible is to kind. The darkness of the soul that instigated, instituted and covered up these acts should be called what it is: hellish.

What is happening to our country? Finally a documentary the exposes the Abu Graib tortures. The person who reviewed before me said that it was just generalization with no proof. Did he forget the soldiers that took those pictures that were plastered all over the news later? Some of them did say what was going on down there. There can be no torture without medical personnel who have knowledge on how to do it and still keep them alive. It does go on in every war. I thought our country didn't until those soldiers mailed those pictures of the dead prisoner. We will suffer one day for those sins that are perpetrated in those POW camps. God will see to that.. May God forgive them.

A lesson in the failure of ethics and humanity. As I watched this, I thought back to when I was a kid in the 70's and 80's. It was during the Cold War, of course, and the most evil people on the planet were made out to be the Soviets. They were brutal, there is no doubt about that. Their treatment of political prisoners was pretty awful. Our society truly was horrified at the stories that leaked out from behind the iron curtain, and we all asked, "How can they be such animals?" Then we'd be happy that something like that could never, ever, happen at the hands of our countrymen. After 3,000 Americans were murdered on the 11th of September, it was amazing how quickly we forgot those words and sentiments. Anger, revenge, war and the hate it brings - these things can create monsters. A dark spot on out history, and one that has inflicted great harm to our worldwide image. It wasn't just torture we allowed, but wholesale surveillance upon the world, including our own people. The terrorists of 9/11 got what they were after: They damaged us, then we poured salt in our own wounds with our reaction.

It makes me feel extremely despondent and ashamed to be a 20 year vet of my USN and my military. That I was not
directly involved is besides the point I recognize the culture exposed when taken to extremes. What I cannot understand is that if an order is illegal, under the UCMJ, you have to disobey it. Courage is not shown only on the field of battle.
