This may sound weird but I never was taught about right ways of communication while growing up during my school and college years in my own country. Moving to the US and starting with my new education here, at first I took my first communication class because it was a part of my program. I was really surprised how much I missed. Actually in my country we did not have such wide national diversity as it is in the US. Moving here I met a lot of people with different cultures and ways of behavior. Many times I was very frustrated when I was not understood or I did not understand others' behavior. In my communication class, the first one and the second, later, I have leaned a lot about the right ways of communication. That helped me much more to understand people from other cultures including American.
This book is very important and describes many aspects of communication that is so much important in our life.
Worth of investment.

This little book could be turned into a huge book if the author deep a little more into the subjects!
It's like a summary book, but I think that maybe that was the problem!
I recommend for those who doesn't like to read too much.

There are so many communication tips in this book that I couldn't possibly speak to all of them. However, I do want to take a moment to talk about my favorite - nested loops. This is a technique whereby a message is broken up, "sidetracked in the middle", so before the conscious mind gets a chance to examine it, the mind has moved on to the next part of the story. This allows for the original message to be accepted without much (or any) examination. In other words - your story doesn't have to be linear. Along with this technique is one I've often used - and am still amazed at it's power: The use of SILENCE, also known as a dramatic pause. It really does command attention. I highly recommend this book to anyone who relies on communication - whether written or spoken.

According to Tony Robbins the people buy for emotional reasons that later justify with logic reasons. I fell for the title and the price even though what he claims it's a tall order.
My logical reason was to see his take on frames. I was totally disappointed.
All you find in the book it's very basic stuff, but with the chapter about frames he did not do his homework.
He recommends to whiten your teeth for preframing. I agree that in some sense your appearance can be taken as a kind of preframe
and he did not give you a linguistically way to construct a preframe.
I am giving him two stars because I don't hate the book but I don't recommend it.

It was a great way to get quick tips and a great way to refresh your memory on ways to instantly connect. Even in this world of technology, the power of human relationship cannot be overlooked. The author states this well.

This book begins with a very powerful sentence: "How well you can communicate in the world will in large be a major deciding factor in how much you get from the world." Brilliant and so true. In this book, author Clarence Oliver takes us through what communication is, how to listen and learn, getting their attention, repetition and keeping it simple. His advice is valuable for anyone in business - or in life - who wants to communicate more effectively and clearly. His chapter on using metaphor was extremely useful to me and I gained a lot of new tools from reading this book. Highly recommended!

This ebook has some good ideas, however, the delivery (to my reading appreciation) does not deliver on the 5 minute promise.
There was no real layout in the densely worded approach to this book where you can't even list these things properly in your mind to recap them without rereading the book again. It seems to ramble on and on dragging out the points and telling you what you are going to learn yet doesn't really teach much.I think we all do these things naturally in conversation anyway and it's possible you can command when you will use them if you identify with what you read. That said,I think some of the explanations are not very clear in what the writer was trying to get across but one thing I do know... the 5 Minute title attracts readers. However, that's all you really get is the title on this one.

An Aid to Better Communication

The author states early in the book that he will show every technique important in making a message clear and concise. A great deal is covered, from learning, how to listen, repetition, telling a story, the use of suggestion and much more. Anyone with an interest in better communication skills will benefit from the ideas and techniques expounded in this book.

I enjoyed this book because of the way it lead you from the initial listening skill to eventually communicating your point in a simple way to be understood clearly. All of the subjects in this book should be taught in schools and colleges to give people a head start of communicating in the work place, their relationships and in general. It demonstrated to me that communicating is actually a skill which we can all benefit from learning. You would not regret spending your time reading this book and taking notes to improve your own communication, in my humble opinion. :)

As an educated psychologist I always approach this type of book with a lot of scepticism. I've seen many books in this area that are either completely useless, or a bit too far over on the dark side of persuasion.
This book was a delight. The techniques described are spot on, psychologically speaking.
A word of warning though, reading a book isn't going to turn you into a professional social manipulator...you have to actually apply these techniques!

It's difficult to recommend a book on communication which is littered with grammatical errors. Effective communication is also about knowing how language works.
Once you get past that, you then have to contend with the author's experiences based on hypnotism and magic.
If you can live with that too, you'll find a short collection of ideas you'll find elsewhere that are helpfully compiled in one place.
However, I couldn't really live with the writing style which I found to be anathema to the whole concept the book was purporting to promote. Still, the price isn't bad: free.
