Great buy for a cheap price

This review is for the simpler mount with the 3M tape on the bottom, not the suction cup. It is very small and compact but will do a great job holding my bridge camera on my dash for "dashcam vids". My dash is textured and slanted, so rather than stick this directly to it and risk schmucking up the provided tape, I purchased Command Strip Velcro strips (the kind meant for heavier objects) since I have some of those holding up a 5lb shelf on a textured wall in my house and know they do well on textures, and the 3M pad will stick to the sticky side of the Velcro strip like a glue bond. This way I'll be able to pull the mount off my dash when not in use but still don't have to worry about it budging at all... and the convenience of easy removal of the Velcro on the dash from the Command Strips. The other problem I have is that my dash and windshield are quite close together, but this is low profile enough that I'll have just enough room to put my bigger camera up there without it rattling against the windshield. Great buy for a cheap price!

I have no complaints about this other than it being packed in a zip lock baggie. It's 99% plastic so as long as it's not over tightened or over burdened then it should last. The tape isn't as bad as I thought but the interior of my car doesn't like sticky(ness) like tape or Velcro; nothing adheres to anything. For now it's working and holding up. This should fit every camera on the market.

I got this to mount my extra camera to my dash as a mobile cam. I can't trust the dash cams that are available and the mixed reviews are not reassuring. My digital camera already exists and I know how to use it.

PROS: Good size and well constructed. Like I mentioned, as long as you don't go crazy with it then you'll be fine. If the tape fails it's because of my car and probably not the product. My "dash" cam set-up worked perfectly and the stabilization was exactly what I wanted. A hot summer may cause stabilization issues but we'll see how it holds-up for the winter.

CONS: Nothing much to gripe about. I got what I expected so I'm happy.

UPDATED Part 1: A week later and it's still going string. Still sticking and no.....& I mean zero movement. The camera is top heavy so I expected some play especially after a week of crummy Massachusetts roads but I was surprised. If the tape issue is a concern, rest assured this is a good product.

UPDATED Part 2: Months of super cold and now summer heat and it's still going strong. NO stickiness issues. NO loose feel and NO excuses for you to not have one.

UPDATED: Part 3: 13 months later and it's still going strong. If for some reason this fails, I'll buy it again.

Small, low profile, fits my Cybershot camera.

Small and low-profile. Fits my Sony Cybershot WX300 thought I wonder if the adhesive is strong enough to hold the weight of the camera. I may do what others have done and use industrial-strength, stick-on velcro to affix it securely to the dashboard of my car. Some photos attached that show how the camera can be adjusted once it's attached. I will update this review when I've had a chance to use it. I'll be driving the chase car for a motorcycle group trip in a couple months.

(I apologize for the sideways photos - I don't know how to fix them)

Strong Mount - One Issue

I was initially going to give this 2 stars. The suction works fine. The build feels sturdy. The problem is the upper thumbscrew takes way too much effort to tighten down. At the risk of sounding like a total weenie, let me say I have a bunch of gopro accessories (including another suction mount) and haven't had this issue before. After tightening it all the way with bare hands, the camera can easily be moved back and forth. Then I grabbed a rubber glove for extra grip and got it a little tighter, but the camera still moves a ton. Ultimately, I had to get my wrench out and tightened the mess out of it, being careful not to break it since it's plastic after all. I got it to a point where it holds well, and I'm satisfied. Any further tightening and I'm sure the plastic would break. However, I don't want to bring a big heavy wrench with me on trips just to get this sufficiently tightened. I'm being harsh in my review because I plan to use this mounted to my snowboard and on the outside of a supercharged bmw m5. It needs to be extremely sturdy since my last suction mount (different brand) broke at one of the thumbscrew joints. What I like about this is that it feels stronger and has less vulnerability than the other "taller" traditional suction mounts. This mount is much more compact and should handle more stress. Time will tell and as always, I update my reviews if I find an issues. For now, I'm giving 4 stars because I was able to get it tightened enough for very stressful conditions, it suctions well, and it feels very sturdy. It would have been 5 stars if the upper thumbscrew could be tightened sufficiently by hand, or had it allowed a screwdriver.

Perfect! Stuck it on my dashboard and now my Midland XTC200 has a place to call home. It's small and unobtrusive which was something that I was looking for when searching for a dash mount for my truck. I didn't want a mount that took up too much real-estate and created a blind spot.
I had a heck of a time getting the backing off the sticky pad (3M so you know it's going to stick!) and once you do, make sure you know where you are putting it and put it on right because that sucker isn't coming off again.
It's been setting in the Hot Atlanta sun in July and it stays put.
