For those wondering about the relative quality of the refill pads as opposed to DIY re-useable pads, I compared 5 pads: official refills, the pads that came with it, swifter sweeper pads, homemade shammy pads and homemade microfiber pads. I did not sweep or use the sweeper for 2 days before each test (hence all the black cat hair).
Official replacement pads: These are just the right thickness and have a texture that traps pet hair and debris (it catches much more pet hair than shows up in the photo). These are simple. Order them. They arrive. Use. For that they are in a tie for number one of the 5 pads I tried. But, if you use this device often, they can get kind of pricey. Also, on these, as with all the other pads, don't turn them over to re-use. That will just get debris in the Velcro that holds the pads on and it's plain gross.
DIY Microfiber pads: I bought a 2-pack of microfiber cleaning cloths (rags) for $1 at Dollar Tree and cut them to the appropriate size and shape. These pick up almost as well as the official refill pads, so they're in a tie for first place. They can be washed and used repeatedly, but if you generally sweep up a lot of pet hair or debris, you'll want to wash them separately, so they don't transfer their catchings to your other laundry. The main con with these is that they can be difficult to get on the machine just right. If they wrinkle or bunch up, they can stop the unit from moving. I also feel that I'll always need to keep some "real" pads in case I don't have any of these washed. Also, note that I don't think a thicker microfiber kitchen towel would work. The thickness would make it difficult for the machine to move effectively.
Swiffer pads: These are as effective as the official refill pads. Even store brands were good, so these can be cost effective if you are a patient person who will punish themself to save a quarter. Every time you use these, you have to use 2 and must cut them every single time in order for the wheels to be exposed. So, these are third on my list for the annoyance.
The pads that come with it: 3 thin, flimsy pads come with this machine. Do not judge what the refill pads will be like based on these (see photos). They work ok, but are 4th on my list. Besides, you can't get any more.
Shammy: I bought a bit thicker, stiffer Shammy at Dollar Tree. It held promise, but not much else. It flunked entirely. The machine also moved more slowly and laboriously with the thickness.
I hoped this answered some questions. Thanks!

I was trying to shop a iRobot kind of auto clean machine, this piece of Junk jump to my eye because it is the #1 selling item in Amazon. I did not believe it because of the price point. iRobot costs several hundreds $$, this only $23!!. So it is #1, I have to give it a try.
When I received the item, it feels a cheap plastic thing, but it may perform some magic. I gave it a try. It looks okay first day. It was running in the house, can pickup some dust and hairs, not particles. I am okay with it, because it is only $23. I used it 1-2 times, total maybe less than an hour.
The second day, this stuff shows why it cost $23!. It spins at same place forever!!. I tried all the method in the manual, clean the roller (not very dirty), re-charged it again, again. But every time I turned on it, it stays at some place spinning.
Alright, that's enough. I returned it.
If you want to buy a toy, this maybe it. otherwise, do not waste your time and effort.
One word to the manufacture, what the hell can you sell this, do you call this a product?
Main problem areas-
It can catch long hair on its axle and slows down to a crawl
Even if there are very small splinters on your floor, the duster can get stuck
After a few months, its random path started becoming shorter & weirder. And in about 4-5 months it pretty much stood in one place and kept spinning.
This is a good buy if you have a wide open hardwood floor, but for folks smaller apartments, this won't serve you long time.

Before buying this product, I have went through all the reviews and a couples of videos which gives the advantages and dis advantages of this product. So i already had some expectations and the product works exactly as they said.
I have a pet in my house and sheds a lot. This unit really helps to get rid of that. Very easy to use and we can keep it on always . Once the battery dies, charge it and use it again. Ideally, floor should be clear of cords, books and junk and papers. Have it start in the middle of the room if possible. Close your door or it will leave and work on the tile outside your bedroom!!
It works best if the room is of square shape.
I am using this unit for a month now and I am liking this product very much, except the fact that Amazon is not selling the electrostatic cloth in India. With the unit, you will get 5 disposable electrostatic cloth, which is actually cleaning the floor. But this is not available in the market here or in Amazon. So once you are done with all the cloth the product becomes useless!! :( :(
