Well worth the Quality and Price

So, I was in a desperate need of a 3.0 "Female/Male" USB extension. Reason is I needed to A) Power my device and B) Transfer data at the 3.0 speed, which is (much faster than the 2.0) so having said that, this cable delivered A & B. I was really happy with the price as well, I mean wow I got it for less than $6, and believe me $6 in the 2014 means like $1 few years ago. So, I am happily satisfied and confident with "Cable Matters" products. They seem legit for its performance and capability to deliver.

Keep in mind, the 10 feet one is equivalent to 3 meters for those who measure things in "meters" which kinda short. But, its the only approved length to a 3.0 USB extension. So be careful trying to buy longer as it may cause issues. Last note, you can use this for printers & Fax, Phone, Smart Tablet or any USB extension... Hope you find this review helpful, if so hit the "useful" button as it will show me that someone found my reviews helpful.

Cable Matters USB 3.0 Extension Cables: An excellent SuperSpeed pair

Finding the right USB 3.0 cables can be an adventure, unless you know what you're looking for, and there is a difference.

The Cable Matters 2 Pack, SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Type A Male to Female Extension Cable in Blue 3 Feet meet the standard for USB 3.0 easily. Also known as SuperSpeed USB, they have a maximum bandwidth rate of 5 Gbps (gigabits per second). That translates to speeds that are up to ten times faster than USB 2.0, also known as High-Speed USB.

Unlike previous criteria, the USB 3.0 standard does not directly specify a maximum cable length, requiring only that all cables meet an electrical specification: for copper cabling with AWG 26 wires the maximum practical length is 3 meters (9.8 ft). These obviously fall within that length. However, you can extend the length by using USB 3.0 hubs or active repeater cables.

I tested these cables as direct connections on a PC that is equipped with USB 3.0 ports and also with my Plugable 7 Port USB 3.0 Hub, which has a 4A power adapter, and the speeds were at the level to which I was accustomed. Note that since USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports may coexist on the same machine and look similar, the USB 3.0 connector has a blue insert, as can be seen in the product images here.

Even if your computer has USB 2.0 ports, these cables are backward compatible with the older USB 2.0 standard. I also tested them with my MacBook Pro, which has USB 2.0 ports, and the data transfer was as expected with the slower 480 Mbit/s top speed of USB 2.0. But since we sometimes upgrade our computers as our needs grow, these cable represent a good investment in technology. You can also get these cables in black, but I went with the blue to differentiate at a glance between the older USB 2.0 cables. It's your choice.

Bottom line is that these are excellent cables at a good price.

I purchased these USB 3.0 cables to extend my USB 2.0 wireless Headset. I Purchased 2 cables (I always get an extra).
When connected it didn't work (at first). I 'jiggled' the connections but no go. I tried the second cable and all worked fine. I went back to the first cable and plugged it in and out of the computer's USB 2.0 port about six times and tried it and all worked fine. I purchase 3.0 extenders even when 2.0 would work for 'future' uses.

I'm assuming the one cable had a bit of corrosion that needed cleaned off and as I had been using the computer port with no problems earlier it had to be the new cable. This isn't anything new to me and I know better but in my rush I was ready to toss a good cable in the trash and just go with the second one.

I've plugged this in and out several times and there is no problem.

Bottom line is, who knows how long these (or other) cables have been sitting around and in what kind of an environment. One should be ready to scrub or clean USB and probably other cables from time to time and before first time use and don't be a hot head like me...

I am happy with BOTH of these and would purchase more if necessary.

If you own a modern game console, you know how it can be a battle to keep your wireless controllers fed. Some controllers have the option to swap AA batteries for a single rechargeable pack, or the controller comes with the rechargeable battery built-in. If you want to keep playing with a specific controller while it charges, you'll need to connect it to the console with a cable (almost always USB). But if you're sitting farther than four feet away, you'll either need to get a longer cable, sit closer, or use one of these. If your controller uses a proprietary cable, a longer option may not exist. And sitting closer may not be an option depending on your furniture arrangement. Grab some of these, save yourself the headache. Also, if your friend challenges you to Street Fighter, then gets frustrated because his/her arcade stick won't reach the machine, you'll have him/her covered. Because s/he can't blame their loss on controller Johns if it's their personal controller!

Please note that these USB cables can be used with ANY USB device that has the normal rectangular connector. It doesn't have to be a game console, that's just the use I've found for it. Want to charge your phone, but the outlet's too far and you don't want to fall out of your chair when you have to reach too far to answer a text? Use one of these. Printer cable too short? Use one of these. Your external hard drive's three inch cable is forcing it into a precarious position because of where your computer's USB ports are? Use one of these. The only limits are your imagination and connector type. All you need to do is plug the thing in.

Is a six foot cable extension still too short? These things exist in any length you can think of.
