I wanted to go with glass after reading a ton about the plastic tupperware containers. These definitely have more heft, and my daughter isn't old enough to hold her own bottle, but it doesn't affect me. I have dropped these suckers on both hard wood and tile floors in my exhaustion and haven't cracked/chipped/damaged them in the slightest. There are a lot of parts to wash, but she has reflux, and every specialist I've talked to after saying we use Dr. Brown's, has said some version of "good" or "they are the best." That's enough of a convincer for me.
I began exclusively pumping for my baby at about 2.5 weeks and she took this bottle with NO problems and has never looked back! I have not tried her on any other bottles so cant compare to anything else as far as gas and colic prevention but she is not a gassy or colicky baby (may be unrelated to the bottle though!). They are easy to clean although people complain about multiple parts and i LOVE the glass. We have not had a problem with breaking them. I wash them with hot soapy water after each use then sterilize them in a steam bag 1x/week with all parts. SO GLAD I chose these.
These bottles are perfect to help support breastfeeding success when you have to bottle feed your little one. My friend who is a feeding specialist at the children's hospital here recommends the premie nipple with this bottle if you are going to be breastfeeding as well. My little one switches between breast and bottle with the premie nipple.
Love these bottles. My baby hasn't had any problems with them. Only design issue I have is the little round disc that goes in between the inside of the nipple and the straw to keep the bottle from leaking when traveling. Without it, if the bottle tips over it will leak. However, when you take it out you're then possibly getting the inside of the bottle dirty with your hands.
We only use Dr. Browns bottles but KEEP A CLOSE EYE OUT FOR CHIPPED GLASS!!! We were very careful when handling these and we never dropped a single one but I found a few with chips after a few months of use. I immediately discarded them and replaced with all plastic.
It is nice to find clean bottles. By that I mean leadfree and plastic free. My rating is on the glass Bottles. They are easy to clean and in seven months there has not been any breakage.
These things are fantastic. The glass is hard enough to take a pretty good drop onto a hard floor, and fantastic for the dishwasher, etc. My wife was super skeptical when I got them, and is now a fervent convert.
