Normally the free versions of most apps are good enough for me. However, this software earned my purchase. My use case is cell-phone mounted to handlebars of ADV motorcycle. The highway and offroad turn-by-turn directions are really impressive. They provide audible directions through my BlueTooth helmet system. I've only seen 1 commercial GPS that came close to these features for offroad. The offline maps that automatically download when you zoom in are also convenient. It is very easy to load gpx files and navigate to them. It even has breadcrumbs to show where you've been, which is exactly what you need when exploring wilderness. In addition to features, their tech support is very responsive and personal. Seems to be a small team working hard to make a great product.

Great app. I have no problems finding the stuff I need in dozens of countries that I travel to.

I gave this app a 1 star simply because the developers refuse to update the Amazon version. The Google Play version is now 2 releases ahead. The developers also refuse to response to posts for help on their forums.

This is the only map app I have found that is able to generate routes completely offline.
All you need an internet connection for is to download the initial maps. Most direction apps send you current location and destination to a web server and downloads the path, using your data plan or wifi. This can be expensive if you are traveling. This app does not require an internet connection to find the best path to follow, it does all the calculations on your phone locally. This feature alone is worth 5 stars. I'm only knocking star off because the app could be easier to use, but it is extremely powerful.
If you are traveling to a destination outside of your normal circle, and don't want to pay extotionate roaming just to get directions from A to B, this is for you.
It takes some learning to use effectively so definitely try the free version before you buy. The free version has no ads, and is only limited by how many country maps you can download.

I love that I can download some or all of the maps for the states in the US. What I very much dislike is the fact that, after having paid for the + version, I cannot open the app if used on my offline device because it wants internet connectivity to make sure I own it. It crashes with an "Internal Service Failure: An internal error occurred. This can be caused by a lack of network connectivity, please make sure you have a good network connection." error. What good is an offline mapping solution if you cannot use it offline. Good thing I have CoPilot as a backup but that is device restricted with flaming hoops you have to jump through to change devices.

Unlike other map apps, this one stores its map database on your device. What this means is you don't need cell coverage for it to work (after downloading your maps beforehand). If you care about privacy then this map app is the one to get. Most other map apps track you as the map is served by your cell data connection; this one compares its gps position to a spot on your map, no continuous cell service required. A lot of config options, a bit of a learning curve.

The review is based on using the app in the USA.

Got this app and MapsWithMe Pro on the same day. After trying OsmAnd+ for a while, I realized why MapsWithMe decided to stick with "Map", or calling itself "NavigateWithMe"...

What it claims it can do:
- Navigate from Point A to Point B
- Display Maps
- Download Maps

What's good:
- Access to maps from OpenStreetMaps
- ..... can't think of anything else.

What's bad:
- App default map storage to internal memory. To move maps from internal storage to SD, you either have to copy the folder (which is hidden from file browser if you do so on a Windows machine with your device connected via USB cable) using an Android app, or you download the same maps all over again. This is a hassle when compared to MapsWithMe.

- UI and configuration is not user friendly. There're many voice packs to choose from but they're not named in a descriptive manner. I know "en" means American English but not everybody knows. There're also way too many small buttons on the screen, which makes this app a poor choice for navigation in car.

- Searching by address is impossible. You either have to search by building name or intersection, after many typing effort. What that means is, if you want to go to a place you've never been, you'd better use another app (Google Map??) to find out the intersection of where you want to go, then come back to the app to punch in the cross street.

- Even if you're able to find the place you want through POI, the routing logic sucks, after trying several destinations I selected. It's incapable of letting you choose between fastest route or shortest route.

- Map rendering is slow, really slow, when compared to MapsWithMe. What's worse, names for major highways and streets aren't displayed at intermediate zoom level - you either have to be real close, or real far to see interstate highway names. Default color scheme is also bad.

Overall it's a poor choice to be used in the US as far as navigation and address search goes; and the poor UI implementation makes this application even worse.

Good navigator , its shows a lot of different places divided by categories, ( even toilets )
In additional to roads there are many of small trail-ways , picnic areas , bicycle tracks , historical places , wiki descriptions , e.t.c.
All that working offline , Im and my wife used it many times during travels where data connection is not available or expensive
and we are very satisfied with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Umfassende Navigations-App mit vielen Funktionen - OsmAnd+
Reviewed in Germany on June 17, 2024

1.0 out of 5 stars Fantastica applicazione, ma...
Reviewed in Italy on June 14, 2024
