Mostly a rock and roll memoir

As someone who has suffered from one-sided sensorineural hearing loss and enjoys music as an avocation, I had seen a quote from the book in an ear nose and throat doctor magazine and was intrigued to find someone who might have some insight on how one's ability to enjoy music changes in this condition. Sadly, there was very little of that. Most of the book is a chronology of the author's journey in discovering rock music in the UK back in the 60's and 70's - which was interesting but not what I had hoped for. There is too little in the book about the emotional issues involved in dealing with hearing loss. Didn't pay much for a used hard copy, thank goodness.

This is an amazing book. Nick Coleman takes you through a period of his life when he felt the most detached from the one thing he loved the most- music. To go through the ordeal he did dealing with SNHL and to finally be able to listen to music again is amazing.

Witty and well written personal memoir of a man who loved music and in his prime, ironically, suffered a devastating hearing problem, that left him with agonizing tinnitis. it is miraculous that he was able to write at all.

I heard an extract on the BBC and the paraphrase/excerpt below grabbed my attention.
The snippet could be a poem in itself.:
