The description claims this adapter "converts your computer's digital DVI-D signal to analog graphic signal", but in reality this is not the case.

If your computer is outputting a DVI-D signal, using this adapter to connect to a VGA monitor will not work.

This will only work if you are using a DVI-I output, which carries analog and digital signals. If you aren't sure which type of output you have, use Google images (or something similar) to find pictures of the two, as the pins look different.

To reiterate: even though the description and title both claim that this is a "converter", it is not.

Having a Wacom Cintiq 22HD tablet monitor with DVI-D cable, try to use this converter @ one laptop with only VGA. But it doesn't work, no signal to the external Cintiq monitor display...

Also tried connect this convert to ACER LCD monitor (support both VGA and DVI), connect this adaptor to DVI cable, same thing, no signal at all to ACER LCD monitor.

Does NOT convert digital to analog. Don't buy if that's what you need - you need an active adapter.

StarTech makes an active Display Port to VGA adaptor ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003V4TV8O ). It's what I needed to get my old analog VGA monitor to work on my R9 290.

It "fits" as an adapter, but the monitor won't work with it being used. Too bad.
