Product exterior -
-Finish - Compared with previous Anker products I'm very happy to say they got the finish on this one perfectly. The aluminum top has the right texture so it is not glossy, seems scratch resistant and doesn't seem to get dirty easily. The silver matches Apple products and also countless other computers, such as the HP Envy 17 3D I have. The back and sides are a premium-feeling poly-carbonate or other plastic, but is soft, and also resistant to fingerprints. It's actually very smooth and soft glossy but not sticky finish.
-The 7 port USB 3.0 hub in general is very sleek and stylish. The blue led lights are very nice and only bleed when looked from a 90 degree angle, which is to be expected. The spacing between the USB ports are about perfect at 7/8" from the center of port 1 to center of port 2 and so on. Only my thick 1 1/8"-wide wireless adapter needed to be on the end which actually fit perfectly next to a thin microsd usb adapter. So basically everything will fit as long as you have a variety of sizes of usb devices. There are 4 quality-made rubber feet that will not come off and will protect this hub and surface of table. The power button has a very slight click but is not spring loaded as a push in/out one. However, it is very clear when you push it. When you power it on it loads up USB ports in reverse order, so 7, then 6, then 5, etc.. and very quickly under a few seconds.
-Thick high quality USB 3.0 Type A to Type B cable is 38" long.
-Power Cord - The length is 51" Power Supply to hub + 47" 2-Prong cord without ground to AC Outlet, so that adds up to lengthy 98" long power cord. **Keep in Mind that this Power Cord is REQUIRED.

The non-premium version of this hub didn't work. So, I sent it back and ordered this one.
I've just finished plugging it in to:
- WD Passport USB3.0 1TB disk
- Seagate Freeagent USB2.0 1/2TB disk
- mouse
- keyboard
- Panasonic DMC-TZ5 Camera
- HTC The One Android phone
- SanDisk USB3.0 64G thumb drive
Everything is accessible.

Swapped my Garmin ANT connector for the thumb drive and it worked fine as well.
Unlike my previous two USB hubs, all the devices attached to this hub are available when I wake my laptop up from hibernate mode. With my old hubs, I would often need to unplug them and plug them back in again.

I didn't realize it had a power switch... very nice feature, especially since I'm using this as a secondary hub and have not yet needed to hook anything to it that needs to be available all the time; although I wish it was easier to see whether it's turned on or off.
Good design, wish I'd have bought two now rather than one of these and a similar one of a different manufacture-- they'd stack nicely.

I reported that this unit had failed after 7 months. My bad. Somehow the cable between the computer and hub became disconnected. The unit works. However, when Anker read my review they emailed me and then called me at home to address the issue. They were going to replace the unit but I had already ordered another unit from a different company so they said they would refund my money. I then found that the unit worked when I replugged the cable back in to the computer. I called them back. The had already refunded me and sent me a return postage paid label. I will return the unit to them. You can't get better support from a company than they have given me. I won't hesitate to buy from them in the future.

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I found plugging cables into the back of the unit inconvenient.

My iMac arrived and I called my son to come over for the install as he was inheriting the 30" Cinema display. The 27" iMac install was a breeze. Most likely because my son was at the helm. One glitch, I had these old multi-port USB 2.0 for only 3 USB's and he recommended we make an OD run and pick up a 6 too 10 port 3.0 USB hub. Problem was OD had little to inventory. Nothing more than 4 USB ports, all black, no brushed aluminum and average cost of $18. So we left, came home, went on the new iMac and straight to Amazon. Within 30 seconds he found a 9 port brushed aluminum 3.0 USB hub by Anker and I said 'Grab it!'. It was literally on my door step the NEXT DAY!! Hooked up within minutes and now I have 4 extra 3.0 USB ports for whatever may be needed in the future. And it looks great! Like it came as part of the system. It sits on top of my Apple Super Drive-right in the middle.

You will not find any other USB hub which looks as nice as this while performing as well. I have been using it for around a month and I connect it to three 2TB 3.5" HDD in Vantec enclosures, one of which is the Vantec NexStar with fan, one 2TB portable drive, one SSD in enclosure, one 1TB HP pocket media drive and the last port for transient connection to an iPad (Note: it's not intended to be an iPad charger). How else would I be able to connect so many USB devices to my iMac if not for this nifty little device?

I had a Dell XPS desktop previously, and when I turned off the external HDD in the Vantec fan enclosure, I cannot get Windows to connect to it if I turned it back on, without first rebooting Windows. No such problem with this Anker hub and my iMac. I can eject the hard disk, turn it off and back on again as often as I like and the Mac still loads it like a charm.

What a fantastic product this is.
