Product description
Sev Zero is available exclusively on Amazon Fire TV. Sev Zero requires a compatible game controller.
Sev Zero is a new game from Amazon Game Studios that combines fast-action shooter mayhem with tower defense-style strategic base building. Wield an expansive arsenal of firepower across 15 levels to hold off the alien onslaught that’s threatening you and the entire planet. In Sev Zero, players can jump between environments – start in tower defense mode to build out towers and assess the surroundings, then beam down to shooter mode for face-to-face combat.
Earth is threatened by an alien species, the Ne’ahtu. Early in the twenty second century, the Ne’ahtu infected Earth’s energy grid with a computer virus that disabled the planet’s defenses. Before the Ne’ahtu could strike, computer prodigy Amy Ramanujan neutralized the alien computer virus and saved the planet. Now, the Ne’ahtu are back and Dr. Ramanujan is trying to prevent them from another all-out invasion of Earth. Switching between towers (to launch various missiles and grenades) and face-to-face combat (to attack with machine guns), the player’s mission is to join Dr. Ramanujan and defend Earth from the Ne’ahtu.
Bring friends and family into the action with the Sev Zero companion tablet app, Sev Zero: Air Support for Kindle Fire tablets, Android tablets, and now iPad tablets! With this multi-player, multi-screen experience, a friend can help you repel the invasion by firing missiles, freezing enemies, and deploying explosive decoys from their tablet while playing alongside the game on Amazon Fire TV. Good game, but it's a game that sucks at multiplayer. I bought a Fire TV with two controllers hoping for some local co-op. I mean seriously? the other player has to play on a kindle? The Fire TV allows for up to 4 connected controllers and there isn't a single game in the app store that can do that? This game was supposed to be the showcase game for the Fire TV and it doesn't local co-op?
I remember before I got my Fire TV, I saw the trailer for this game. Then, I got a Fire TV and bought this, and it totally lived up to the hype. It is exclusive to the Fire TV, so kudos to fellow owners of it. It is a really interesting game. It is a tower defense game where you can build towers to defend the center of the map, but it's also a shooter as well. When you place your towers, you can jump into the map in person, third person to be exact, and fight alongside your levitating towers. When there's no more aliens in the part of the map you're at, or if you die, you can teleport back to the map screen and manage your towers some more by upgrading, repairing and building more of them. You just keep defending the center of the map, which is a mineral refinery of some sort where a scientist, one of the characters in the story, warns you of incoming enemy waves as she tries to pull up the main shield of the refinery so it can be permanently defended. It is a really fun game, and it's interesting how it's both a shooter and tower defense game. It really is worth the six dollars, and if you want it, you should consider getting it, but ONLY if you want to. Thank you for reading my review of Sev Zero for the Amazon Fire TV. Thanks!
If this game had a better multiplayer option this would get 5 stars. It's no HALO but at $6 it's a steal. Game is fun and challenging. Took me a few minutes to get the concept down but my wife is already complaining about how much I'm playing it. I hope Amazon is listening to our reviews too because I know I am not the only one complaining about the lack of multiplayer.... At least have a leader board so we can see where we stack against other players.
--UPDATE-- Haven't played in about a year and picked it up again... still a fun game but would be nice if Amazon would throw some money into this and make it a real 2 player game...but since they haven't yet they probably wont. Still it's a GOOD game and worth the couple of bucks.
So I ordered the Fire Game Controller for my Fire TV Stick, and Amazon made a big deal out of getting this and two other games for free with the controller. But it turns out only one of the games, not this one, is actually compatible with the Fire TV Stick. Really? So since I can;t play it it only gets ONE STAR.
I was reluctant to buy this. I do not have the Amazon controller yet so I did not get this game with the controller purchase. I have been using a moga pro controller with the Amazon TV without any issues at all. Although I do still want to pick up the official Amazon controller.
I finally shelled out the $7 for this game. Turns out it is a very good game at that price. The game play is simple to pick up on but can be very challenging as well.
I thought there would surely be some lag in between switching from the map view to the 3rd person view. There was not. This game plays very smoothly on the Amazon TV.
If you have an Amazon TV you should pick up this game. If you do not have an Amazon TV ... get one ... and play this game.
I got this game for the kids, but they actually have the most fun providing air support on their Fire tablet. I have to say, I really like playing it with them. I'm a sucker for tower defense games and this has the added bonus mixing in some shooter action when you need to drop in and clean some house. Really fun stuff. The air support from the tablet is probably the coolest part of this game. It creates a fun dynamic where the air support player has a unique and important role to play in the overall battle. I highly recommend this game. For $6.99, you could do a lot worse.
Haven't progressed too far into the game yet, but so far I am enjoying this cross between a first person shooter and a tower-defense game. It's fun to be able to jump to different points on the map and defend your towers and defeat the bad guys. I like the controller support. I used the Fire TV Controller from Amazon and it has worked well for this game. The graphics are a bit dated compared to modern console or PC game graphics, but they still look good and the game plays really well.
