Now for the downside... As soon as you try to install this on a windows 8 (or higher) machine, windows will install it's own generic driver. This renders all of the extra modes and programmable buttons useless. I searched for hours for a solution. I tried different versions of the Logitech software. I read some people were doing fresh installs of windows, just to get the mouse to function, spending hours trying to find registry errors, etc... Don't bother with any of it. It's not going to work. Read on for instructions that work.
Go to the control panel>Device manager>[find your mouse]>right click>properties>update driver. When the dialog box pops up, choose "Browse My Computer For Driver Software." Then, click browse and navigate to to where the "Logitech Gamming Software" is located. In the case of a standard install, it will be located in C:\Program Files\Logitech Gaming Software. Finally, click next. Done! It should now be listed as Logitech Gaming Receiver in the device manager. Open the Logitech Gaming Software. You should now be able to use all of the functions of the mouse.
First, this mouse is wireless and requires AA batteries to operate. HOWEVER, you DO NOT have to use TWO AA Batteries, you can use a SINGLE AA battery. When playing FPS, a single AA is better suited and cut the weight down by about 25 gram from 130 or so to 107 grams, much better for fast action. When playing other games like RTS or MMOA, I think two AA is okay, but you should judge for yourself. 107 grams is pretty much inline with some of the other wired gaming mouse other including the cord weight.
The Logitech Gaming Software is pretty awesome and you can actually customize all the buttons, you can read up on that. I will just give me some quick pro and cons from a user perspective after using it for about six months playing Overwatch:
PRO:
Wireless, skip the cord and the bungee holder (I can't go back to wired mice any more)
Customizable buttons make melee, reload, and using abilities easy and quick
Decent tactile feedback on the LMB and RMB, not mechanical but good enough.
Shape is pretty comfortable.
CON:
Weight quite a bit for FPS with both batteries
Mouse is a bit on the larger side and make not be comfortable for some
Middle click seems to be a common problem, mine seem to have that issue now.
Polling is at 500Hz instead of 1000Hz like some other top end wireless mouse out there.
Conclusion, if you want a wireless mouse and don't want to spend top dollars for the Logitech G403, G900, or G903, I think this will suit your needs.
Thanks.
I searched social media sites, online tech, Logitech's website, and just did a web search for any information I could find to fix the problem. Whatever the problem was, the mouse wouldn't stay connected. I tried uninstalling and rolling back drivers, fresh install of Logitechs software, keeping the sensor closer, trying USB2 or USB3, swapping batteries, cleaning the mouse, windows update, restarts, and so many combinations of this and other things. To no avail, I ended up buying a cheap Piktec (sp?) Gaming mouse until I find a good replacement.
I'm really disappointed because a little over a year is terrible lifespan for brand and product quality. Just for your informatio, it seems the batteries drain faster because of the connection problems. Also, the scroll wheel click would not work and solutions online resulted in blowing out the dust which surprisingly worked. Sadly, no solution worked for this current surprise problem. I tried the mouse just moments ago hoping that time would heal this wound but also nothing.
I'd recommend looking at other Logitech mice or maybe some other competitor. If you really are dead set on this then good luck. Just fair warning that I wasn't the only one who experienced this problem.

I love the mouse but i'm surprised the lack of quality control from Logitech. Normally Logitech is a very solid company(one of the reasons I always support them) but unfortunately I cannot recommend this product, unless you want to repurchase it every 6 months.. Quality control at logitech still hasn't fixed this issue, so until its actually fixed I can not recommend this mouse.
Pros:
Aimed at gaming and also productivity. Don't be fooled by its gaming focused design. It is excellent for every other task as well.
Ergonomics.
Excellent battery backup!!(3months on stamina mode and a month on performance mode)
Buttons, Buttons, Buttons! More than enough buttons for any app you would use.
App to customize every button in different ways for individual apps.
A hidden gem for MAC users. All the gestures can be programmed to the buttons how ever you want. Transfer the magic from your trackpad to the mouse.
Cons:
Bad hardware. You have to replace the mouse every year within 3years of warranty.
So, If you are okay with replacing(after waiting for a week) the mouse everytime it fails then go for it. I still use it to date as I don't find an alternative to this.
Except....I got the middle mouse button problem, many people report having this issue where you have to press it hard in order for it to work.
After browsing forums for 5 minutes I found the fix...
Hold your mouse upside down on a table, click the middle mouse button down and put some pressure on it (not enough to damage it of course) and scroll the wheel both ways. Do this a couple of times and test the button, it fixed mine right away.
I felt the fix was so simple and quick that it didn't deserve a knock down to 4 stars.
Everything was good, until earlier this week, where out of nowhere, the mouse stopped working. My computer still recognizes the receiver (and it is shown in the Logitech Gaming Software), but it says to wake up or power on the mouse itself. My mouse clearly has power as the lights still light up when changing the mode and DPI settings, and I changed the batteries as well, and it still did not work. I attempted to plug my mouse into another laptop, but it still did not work. Afterwards, I tried using the Logitech Connection Utility for the g602, but that did not fix anything. I've owned Logitech products in the past and I have generally been very satisfied with them, but this mouse has been a major disappointment. I would have given it a much better review/rating had it not stopped working. Just disappointed overall.
First and the most important, it has a great ergonomic, I do not have any pain like usually do with different mice.
Second, the battery is lasted for about 4 months (I use it every day for about 10 hours).
The overall design is very nice, it looks and feels like great quality. Extra buttons are great and very helpful
The only issue with this mouse, I have to replace it every 2 years (I have 5 or 6 of them replaced already for all members of my family) normally after 2 years buttons or wheel stop working. In a couple of cases, it happens before 2 years warranty, so I got a free replacement from Logitech, but in some cases, I have to pay again.
