1. Angels In Paradise - Part 1

The Angels may finally see the man they work for -- Charlie's been kidnapped and they must fly to Hawaii to rescue him. Mild-mannered Billy Shan is in jail; he and his tough--talking wife Leilani operate most of the organized crime on the Islands, and she wants to make a deal -- she'll return Charlie when the Angels have gotten Billy out of jail safely. Billy's escape does not prove difficult. His dishonest lawyer, George Hollis, persuades a judge to call Billy into court for a hearing, and on the way the Angels intercept the vehicle he is in. Now they tell Leilani they are ready to trade, but she no longer has Charlie -- he's been kidnapped from his kidnappers. The Angels now must negotiate with Mr. Blue, a gangster trying to take over Hawaii from Billy and Leilani. He is proposing the same trade -- Billy for Charlie -- but he intends to kill Billy as the first step of his takeover. The !angels have no intention of letting that happen -- they rather like Billy -- and so they try to learn where Charlie is being kept in order to free him themselves. In a massage parlor they learn who probably has that information: Mr. Blue's psychiatrist, Sammy Stanford, who is presently on a nudists' beach, lecturing on the evils of sunbathing. Kris goes out to speak with him, though thanks to the camera angle we are not subjected to any nudity. Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd star as the Angels, Sabrina Duncan, Kelly Garrett and Kris Munroe, respectively, who work for Charlie, an unseen and very sophis-ticated boss who phones in their instructions. David Doyle stars as Bosley, Charlie's harried assistant.

3. Angels On Ice - Part 1

Just before the opening of a big ice show, the two stars, Jack and Helene, disappear, and since the promoter is a friend of Charlie's, Kris and Kelly start practicing their skating so they can join the ice act. Strangely, unknown replacements walk in who know the routines perfectly, so the jobs are theirs. Then the show's mechanic, who was working on the special trick rifles also disappears, and just as before, a stranger arrives who says he can fix the rifles. The Angels, trying to locate the three missing persons, follow the few leads they have. Billy, the slightly retarded training assistant, had spoken with men he didn't know, and told them, in exchange for money, where to find Jack after a training session. And from an amusing drunkard named Mason Fairchild, the Angels learn of the long, black limousine in which Jack and Helene were taken away. The big break comes when Kelly sees the limousine drive away from the arena. She follows the car to an Arabian restaurant, and of course, goes inside. Disguised as a belly dancer, she overhears a plan to assassinate the dignitaries who will be attend-ing the ice show, but unfortunately when the music starts she's expected to dance, and in doing so she is recognized and captured. Kelly is locked up with the other three captives; and she is the only one who knows what the plan is. Unless she can escape there will be a terrible shooting. Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd star as the Angels, Sabrina Duncan, Kelly Garrett and Kris Munroe, respectively, who work for Charlie, an unseen and very sophis-ticated boss who phones in their instructions. The Jarvis' football team, all women, has a big game scheduled against Julia Smyth's Panthers, but a pair of motorcycle riders has been terrorizing Amy and warning her not to play. Joining the team is only a cover, but Sabrina displays such good form that Julia Smyth invites her to play for the Panthers. Julia's only concern is winning, and her players are rough and well trained. More interestingly to Sabrina, Julia rides a motorcycle. Kelly meets a sad person named Joe Phillips in the parking lot, and they go out for dinner. Joe is a former football star whose injured knee forced him to retire, and now he feels like only half a man. Joe does not seem involved with the recent trouble, and Kelly grows tired of hearing how sad his life is. By locating all the local dealers who sell a certain kind of motorcycle, the Angels find the two that were used to scare the players, and driving away in a truck is none other than Joe Phillips. Furthermore he has taken blueprints of the stadium with him, as though he needed to know how to gain entry into rooms that would be locked, like the room where the stadium's safe is kept. Down on the field, Sabrina realizes that one of her teammates is Julia's spy and is secretly telling the Panthers what plays to expect. Using this knowledge, Sabrina outsmarts the cheaters, by calling one play and then running a different one. Catching crooks is the Angels' job, but winning this game is very satisfying. Leland Swinnerton, 70-year-old president of a huge toy corporation, is known to everyone as Mother Goose. He goes to Charlie's Angels for assistance when someone tries to sabotage the company toys by blowing up the corporate offices, causing at least one death. Sabrina, posing as a secretary from Hong Kong, becomes friendly with Gordon Roclair, the brilliant but crazy design director. Roclair confides to Sabrina that he hates Mother Goose, and is working for Tony Phelan, a gangster with plans to gain control of the company. With Sabrina tagging along as "partner," Roclair installs secret microphones around the factory, so that Phelan can hear all the latest corporate decisions. It is a simple matter for the Angels to sabotage the saboteurs by changing the location of the microphones. Instead of picking up important conversations in Mother Goose's office, Phelan hears the secretary talking about her flowers. By planing a microphone of their own in Phelan's truck, the Angels pick up all the wire tap communications and hear the gangsters' plans. This mike is especially useful when Phelan's accomplice, Orwell, discovers the identity of Kelly, who had been working with him as a "bugging expert." Orwell forces Kelly at gunpoint to drive the truck into the country, but Bosley and Kris are right behind, listening to every word. In the end, Roclair and Phelan are completely confused. Roclair finds Mother Goose's secret plans for the new Christmas toys with Sabrina's help, but Kris switches them for a set of useless vacuum cleaner blueprints. Phelan and his hoods chase Roclair, believing he doublecrossed them. In the confusion, a booby--trapped toy cannon in the factory shoots at Roclair and he falls, only from fright, because Kris had stopped up the barrel with bubblegum. But the Angels are more interested in the Italian restaurant across the street, where Freddie, the macho delivery boy works. He brings pizza to the girls in the building almost every day, and always acts aggressive and threatening. Then Bonnie, another blond girl, is attacked but manages to escape. When she says her assailant smelled like a restaurant, it looks like Freddie is the man. Freddie swears he's innocent, and when his shark's tooth pendant is found beside the latest victim, Sabrina wonders if it isn't a bit too obvious a clue. The owner of the Italian restaurant, Roman Vail, also has access to the apartment building, and the. Angels are surprised to learn that he knows Freddie lost his pendant. Also the last victim died with bits of skin under her fingernails, and Vail's arms show many scratch marks. When Sabrina and Kelly finally put the evidence together, they must rush to rescue blond-haired Kris who is alone in the restaurant with Vail. 25. Angel On The Run

Larry Kantrelle delivers gravel in a dump truck, and he has more than a business relationship with several of his lady customers. One morning en route to see his favorite "customer," a small brown package is tossed into his truck by a pair of thugs in a Cadillac. Later, Larry is stunned when the men kidnap him at gunpoint, on his way to his wife's singing debut. When he doesn't show up at the rehearsal and remains missing, his wife Sue goes to the Angels for help. While Sabrina and Kelly are talking to Sue in her apartment, the kidnappers come to the door. One of them fires a gun but Sabrina slams the door on his hand, deflecting the shot. The glimpse the men got of Kelly inside the apartment leads them to believe that Kelly is Larry's wife, and now they are after her. Using this to their advantage, the Angels decide to substitute Kelly at the concert to see what the men try to do. Sure enough, Kelly is drugged and kidnapped before she goes on stage and soon learns the mystery behind the kidnapping. The men tossed a brown package containing stolen diamonds into Larry's truck to hide it in the event of a police search when their Cadillac was accidentally hit by another car. When Kelly is "reunited" with Larry as his wife, she convinces him right in front of their captors to play along and pretend she is his wife. The plan involves everyone driving out to the dirt farm where Larry made his last delivery, and then seeing whose wits are quicker, Kelly's or the diamond thieves.

26. Antique Angels

Two tanks of radioactive gas are stolen; and the tire track of a 1930's automobile is the Angels' only clue. Since there is an antique auto rally being held nearby, it makes sense to go there and see if anybody looks suspicious. Charlie provides Bosley with a Model T Ford so he can enter the competition, and the, three Angels all pretend to be reporters working on stories. The lab analysis indicates that the tire track could have been left by only four of the antique cars. One of these is owned by Mrs. Martha Milton, a middle-aged woman with whom Bosley is immediately on very friendly terms. One of the others, the 1936 Dodge that we recognize as the one used in the crime, is being worked on by two friendly mechanics, Marshall and Hendricks. But watching them as they talk to "reporter" Kris is Greeves, the man who has been driving the Dodge earlier that day. The Angels, knowing when the crime took place, are trying to establish the time when the contestants checked into the rally, since anyone who arrived early in the morning could not be guilty. Greeves is very worried since he knows that his late arrival was covered up by a $500 payment to the official who agreed to doctor the check-in list. He overplays his hand by killing the official in the hope that it will protect his secret. Kris now knows exactly which car the criminals are associated with, but by snooping too much she is captured and forced to ride with Greeves in the race. Realizing where Kris is at the last moment, the other Angels and Bosley jump into the Model T and zoom past the entrance. They are out of the proper order, but just in time to rescue Kris from the back seat of Greeves' getaway car. Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd star as the Angels, Sabrina Duncan, Kelly Garrett and Kris Munroe, respectively, who work for Charlie; an unseen and very sophisticated boss who phones in their instructions. David-Doyle stars as Bosley, Charlie's harried assistant.

Charlie's Angels were wonderful because they were smart, attractive, and active. In Season Two, they play football, hang glide, ride horses, play tennis, sing, play guitar, ice skate, enter a beauty pageant, and so on. The Angels prove that they can hold their own, anywhere, anytime. Farrah Fawcett left Charlie's Angels after Season One. Although she does guest star in the third and fourth season, she does not appear in the second season. She was replaced by Cheryl Ladd.
Here is an episode guide, with a tiny description:
1. Angels in Paradise (1): Charlie has been kidnapped while on vacation in Hawaii.

I am so grateful that Sony decided to release the second season of Charlie's Angels on DVD! I pray they follow up with the three remaining seasons as well. Season 2 is my favorite season for a number of reasons. First of all, the tone of the series changed with the introduction of Kris Munroe. In Season 1 the episodes were much more adult oriented, but in Season 2 there was a blitz of toys being marketed towards kids and the show became a bit campy. Having a rookie Angel on the payroll soothed this transition, for with Kris came a sense of humor. Having posed for the extreme undercover roles of a toy mannequin ("Mother Goose is Running For His Life"), a clown ("Angels on Ice"), and a nudist ("Angels in Paradise"), Kris was clearly a team player. Cheryl Ladd proved her worth throughout the run of the series by allowing Kris to evolve from the spirited innocent who first bounced into the Townsend offices and into a more world weary mature woman by the end of Season 5. Her major turning point is depicted in "Angel Baby" in which Kris shoots a man for the first time.
In addition to Sabrina & Kelly receiving a new partner, the Angels performed some of their best detective work in several of the episodes, most notably in "Angels in Paradise" in which they go up against two rival Hawaiian mobs, stage a jail break, and rescue a kidnapped Charlie. Bosley also gets much more involved in the cases than he did on Season 1.
The picture and sound quality for this box set are better than that of Season 1, but I am only giving it four stars because Sony has done the unthinkable in editing two of the episodes.

I strongly feel that season 2 of Charlie's Angels was probably the best season of the entire series run. Having to make up for the loss of Farrah they cast Cheryl Ladd and she turned out to be the most successful new Angel. Cheryl Ladd brought a lot of fun to the show and I think did a better job than Farrah. Jaclyn Smith shined as Kelly, though her acting may not have been the best during the first season, it started developing more and more, and she was by far the most beautiful woman on television when Charlie's Angels aired. Kate Jackson does supurb as the unofficial leader of the group, what she lacks in the 'babe factor' she makes up in her great acting skills. David Doyle never fails to impress as the lovable Bosley who always has the girls' backs. This season also brought about great episodes with the premiere "Angels in Paradise", having the most beautiful women on television against a Hawaiian paradise made for a great episode. "Pretty Angels All in a Row", a fun episode that could rival the ever popular season one episode "Angels in Chains". It was a very special treat to see the talents of Cheryl Ladd displayed in "Angels in the Wings", where Cheryl Ladd does a big musical number. It was also a fun treat to see the actual Charlie's Angels dolls that were sold in stores at the time appear in the episode "Mother Goose is Running for His Life". These episodes along with such notable guest as Sammy Davis Jr. make season 2 of Charlie's Angels a classic.
