I rented this looking for a scary and suspenseful type movie. Other than the few scary scenes, it was really more of a love story. If you are looking for a love drama meets spiritual haunting type, then this movie is probably for you. Those of you looking to really be scared, this is not that movie.

A powerful, beautiful, and haunting film. Part love story, part supernatural thriller, this film takes you down one road only to take you in another completely different direction. Unlike most indie films, this movie really hooks you from the beginning and does not let go. Mischa Barton gives the performance of her career as a woman who discovers the love of her life only to have that love taken away from her in a dark and mysterious way. Recommended for all fans of the supernatural thriller genre as well as anyone who has felt the pain of losing someone they love.

This is a great haunting romantic thriller. Without spoiling any of the plot, the best part about this unique ghost story is the love story that unfolds between the two main characters (played by a gorgeous and healthy-looking Mischa Barton and Ryan Eggold).

The score and the cinematography set this film way above the rest, and I loved how the filmmakers featured architecture in downtown Los Angeles in a way I haven't seen since (500) Days of Summer.

First off, I had not seen Mischa Barton in awhile--she has become such a beautiful woman. I am not a fan of scary movies that keep you on the edge of your seat, this one did that just enough. However, the love story behind it all kept me hopeful of a good ending. I enjoyed it a lot including the ending.

Few movies manage to blend two totally separate genres like romance and horror into a seamless tale. In this movie, you get just enough creep factor to make you jump that also tells the story of a woman who, after losing her parents back-to-back and deciding there is nothing beyond this life, is too afraid to fall in love, even when it stares her right in the face. But Adam is a complete charmer who Sophia can't say no to. When he disappears in the middle of the night with no trace - in a building that's supposedly haunted - she'll stop at nothing to get him back.
I have one complaint about this movie, and that's a few poorly delivered lines by supporting actors and, at times, Sophia's not quite believable. But for the most part, the movie is well acted, and while you think you know what's going to happen at the end, you might find a bit of a surprise. I think some people don't quite get the struggle here, and so they don't quite understand the story. But overall, this is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time, and I would definitely watch it again. Not something I can say for a lot of suspense and horror movies.

I have to disagree with the review that said it was not scary. I had an 11 year old who watches scary movies with me leave the room and say it was too scary. It is the perfect kind of scary movie for me. Very suspenseful without being gory or graphic. I think that more scary movies should be done this way. Suspense is a whole lot more fun for more than graphic violence.
I compare it with Shyamalan's "The Village". I am sensitive to bad acting, and unrealistic events, and this movie had good acting, and some wonderful scenes.
I would have liked a different ending, and some loose ends weren't tied up (won't go into detail for sake of not ruining movie).

This movie was okay. I didn't care much for the ending. In addition, I felt like the movie referenced a couple of plot points that were never really fully resolved. I liked the actors, they did a good job, but the story itself was crappy.

While there were some interesting scenes, I finished the movie feeling like I was force fed a belief system. The paranormal theme was decent, but the first half starts slow and doesn't sufficiently develop the love relationship. Flashbacks can't build a life long love relationship a posteriori.
