You don’t have to go to sleep to have Dark Chocolatey Dreams. This sweet and nutty spread is made from peanuts blended with cocoa, cocoa butter, cane sugar, and a pinch of salt. We've added a little bit of palm oil to keep the peanut oil from separating so that there is no need to stir. Soft but the flavor is great!

UPDATED 4/20/23: I Purchased the white chocolate version and got a case of six for just a few pennies over $20 which I think is an awesome deal because each jar is 16 ounces.

The last time I purchased this peanut butter it was just regular with no extra flavor and that review is below this one. however I think that the white chocolate added to the peanut butter puts the flavor way over the top! In simple terms: I LOVE IT! 😍

It is still extremely soft but this time I used my hand blender that has a frothing attachment so I was able to get way down deep into the jar and all along the sides and really mix it up thoroughly. Prior to this I was just using a knife and manually mixing it. I still have to keep it in the refrigerator and it’s still much softer than normal storebrand peanut butter (like Jiffy) but the price and the flavor makes up for that. But if you really want a stiff peanut butter I don’t think that this is gonna work for you. I’m going to keep it in the refrigerator overnight on the top shelf so it’s the coldest and if it’s stiffens up more than I am thinking it will, I’ll come back and edit this.

ORIGINAL REVIEW ON REGULAR/UNFLAVORED VERSION: The flavor is good but even after keeping it in the refrigerator within just a moment of opening the jar and starting to spread it out, it gets so soft and so soupy that it is just too runny. I like a peanut butter that spreads and stays stiff on the bread and this is just too soft. It’s really too bad because the flavor is very good.

I found these to be quite tasty. The only problem was that during the shipping process one of the jars leaked a lot of oil even though there was a sealed foil label on the jar. Because of the loss of the oil that particular jar is not good. I'm not sure if I will contact Amazon about it or just take the loss.

I do consider myself a bit of a PB connoisseur. For the purposes of this review, I'm comparing this product to the other three natural PBs I regularly eat:

Fresh Thyme (midwest Whole Foods wannabe owned by Meijer) natural crunchy PB
Trader Joe's natural crunchy PB
Whole Foods natural crunchy PB

The biggest difference between these four is their texture. WF and FT products are what I would call more of a coarse grind, while TJ and this product (PB&C) are what I would call a creamy/smoother grind. Now, obviously, because they're all cruncy PB, they have chunks in them. When I describe texture, I mean the PB, not the chunks, in other words the texture of the PB minus the chunks.

All four have simple ingredients - peanuts and salt. Therefore, the only possible differences in flavor would be due to the level of saltiness and the types of peanuts used. Frankly, I don't detect much difference in taste between the four. The only standout would be Trader Joe's, because they use unblanched peanuts, so those ground-up red skins add a unique flavor profile to the PB.

With regards to texture, the four fall squarely into one of two camps - coarse vs fine grinds. TJ and PB&C have a smooth, creamy texture due to the finer grind of the peanuts. But the unblanched nuts used by TJ add a unique dimension to the flavor and texture. FT and WF have more of a sandy texture, which I actually prefer. Better mouth feel and less stickiness.

Like all natural PBs, spreadability depends strictly on you, and how you store/maintain it. I generally stir when first opened, then move it to the refrigerator to minimize separation. If stored in the refrigerator, it can be quite difficult to spread, especially on a soft, squishy bread. At room temperature, all natural PBs are very spreadable, but they will separate quickly, requiring re-stirring. However, if you don't frequently re-stir, or don't to it thoroughly, you will end up with thick, hard-to-spread separated material at the bottom of the jar.

Bottom line: This is perfectly acceptable, tasty, PB. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. That being said, of the four PBs I've discussed, this one comes in fourth. WF and FT are better (IMHO) for their texture, and TJ gets the nod over PB&C for their use of unblanched nuts. And, of course, you can get the other three much cheaper from your local stores, than the cost of PB&C through Amazon. I will not be buying again.

I have previously tried the dark chocolate variety from Peanut Butter & Co which I found delicious. Having read the reviews of this product, I opted to try it next. I am so glad I did, the product is fantastic. It tastes like the type of product which you would make at home following a recipe form a cookbook. No synthetic or mass produced feel about it at all. The maple flavour is subtle and tends to hit right at the end. I would not consider buying any other brand of peanut butter again.

Yummy peanut butter with maple syrup - though tastes different to British peanut butter so took a few mouthfuls to start to appreciate it. Its only 2% maple syrup & the rest is maple flavour syrup so slight cheat but the maple syrup flavour does come through & I will enjoy it on toast, pancakes etc - made a smoothie with it which made me feel a bit sick - it is very rich!! Expensive treat but if you buy the 6 pack its cheaper than buying it at Harvey Nicks!! Yum yum!

I was a little unsure when I first tried this, probably because I put it on seeded bread that already had quite a strong flavour. However, on a nice slice of plain white toast, this is lovely. As you would expect from Peanut Butter Co., sugars are kept to a minimum (8 grams per 32 gram serving) while taste is finely blended between the overriding taste of peanut butter and a hint of the maple syrup. Lovely stuff!
