What a fun and hysterical show!!! Not for kids, that's for sure, but as an escape for adults who are okay with the sometimes crude sense of humor, sex and substance abuse references, it's totally worth the money. I'm sooo glad I decided to purchase the first couple of episodes that I'd missed, though I now watch on CBS.com the day after each episode airs. However, if you haven't tried Mom yet, give it a go. It's fabulous!

When it comes to sitcoms, dysfunction seems to be the norm these days, and there's plenty of dysfunction for Christy, the lead character in Mom, the latest offering from Chuck Lorre Productions. Anna Faris has the leading role, playing a single mother, and recovering alcoholic, who faces challenges at work, and at home. Lorre, the co-creator of The Big Bang Theory, and Two and a Half Men, is apparently taking an active part in the writing for this series, which seems intent on loading Christy with all the stress she can handle.

Appearing in such recent movies as Observe and Report (2009), and The House Bunny (2008), you might think that Anna Faris was still in her 20's, but at age 36 and a recent mother in real life, she's actually the right age to play a woman who became a teen mother, and now has a rebellious daughter named Violet (Sadie Calvano), who is pregnant at 16.

Returning to television after her long run on The West Wing, Allison Janney plays Christy's mother Bonnie, with the zest, style, and at times venom, that was intended for her character. Not the most supportive mother, Bonnie is hardly the ideal role model, as another recovering alcoholic, and a former drug user, who seems to have few regrets about her "colorful" past.

With a flair for trashiness, Janney definitely entertains, but Faris has the much harder role, as Christy struggles to fulfill her responsibilities as a mother, a task that seems to grow more difficult by the day.

A friend (who is a therapist) told me about this show. We were talking about addiction, and I came home and ordered the first season immediately. I watched the first half in one sitting. Loved it! It is funny, yet poignant. So many truths and fairly realistic about addiction as I understand it. Later, I had a family member who has been in recovery 20+ years if it rang true to him and he said the writing was excellent. In his experience, meetings were done in a circle, not from a podium, but that was just his experience. He said dating while in the first year of recovery is a real no-no and one of first things stressed in recovery so that didn't ring true, but it makes for good TV. Can't wait to watch the other episodes. I'm a new fan.

Note: I saw every episode via XFinity On Demand.

CBS' latest comedy from Two And A Half Men & The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre is hilarious and engaging. With a good cast and very good writers, MOM never fails to deliver the laughs. Caution: 98% of the comedy borders on the crude, and unfortunately, several lines in a few episodes derogate Christians. The latter is why I give the show four stars. I have no problem with crudity, but when the comedy turns to bashing disabled people, Jews and Christians, that's where I draw the line. Fortunately, those faux pas' of the show have been few and far between.

MOM has been renewed for a second season.

Just started watching because I love Anna Farris. I laugh at every episode. It gets better and better as the season presses on. I could do without the over abundance of sexual innuendos every now and then is not an issue but every 2 mins gets a little old. It's like the female version of Two and a half men. Over all I like it though. Will keep watching.

Absolutely hilarious comedy by Chuck Lorre, creator and producer of "The Big Bang Theory". I'm usually not a big fan of sitcoms about families, but I decided to give this one a try because it was created by Chuck Lorre. I am so glad I started watching this, this sitcom is a riot.

It's an interesting view into the lives of people struggling with addictions. While it is entertaining, it may help people seeking help. And it's funny! A little too sexual, in my opinion. I think it's just not necessary. The writing is good and I believe can carry the show without all the innuendo.

The show is hilarious. Great cast of dysfunctional friends and family that hits many way too close to home. I laugh but can almost feel the pain of the situations that the family goes through. Show is fun to watch I think you can put it with any of the sitcoms out there that make you laugh. definitely worth watching.
