The Bogus Witch Project 2000

R CC
2.2 out of 5 stars (21) IMDb 1.7/10

This project is a riotous compilation of short film spoofs "inspired" by a certain low budget horror movie. Suddenly, everyone's getting lost in the woods (or shopping malls and public parks) searching for that witch, while others believe she could be lurking anywhere, from the luxurious homes of LA's wealthy Bel Air district or the ghettos of downtown. THE BOGUS WITCH PROJECT proves that imitatio

This movie is, quite simply, terrible. I watched some of it late one night on cable, and I found none of it funny or entertaining. I assumed it was going to be lame, but I was hoping for the "it's so lame it's funny" effect that sometimes results from bad films. Sadly, the lameness of this movie is more likely to make one want to go to bed than to invoke laughter or interest.

A dog... I'm not surprised to see Pauly jump on the bandwagon since his career's been somewhat in the dumps these days. If you want to see a good "Blair Witch" satire/spoof, check out "The Blair Witch Rejects" or "The Oz Witch Project". Both of them a thousand times funnier and more clever...

After the success of "The Blair Witch Project" I kept hearing about all these spoof movies that were going to get made. However,I never heard much more about them, until now. Seems all those spoof movies were meshed into one movie, and treated as segments of what we now know as "The Bogus Witch Project". Most of the spoof's in the film are truly appalling, but then again even I had an idea of getting a video camera out and doing my own spoof of the film. Pauly Shore may be on cover and billed as the star but he is only in the film for about 10 minutes. His segment takes the former comic genius into a movie theatre where he tell's us about his failed audition for "blair witch". I can't believe Pauly has sunken this low though, after all he was so great in those films "Encino Man" and "Son in Law" back in the early 90's. As for the other segments, which include mock commercials, they are pitifull. Each one is esentially the same, spoofing exactly the same moments from "Blair Witch". However, if you like me, had the idea of getting out your camcorder and going to make your own spoof of "Blair Witch", I suggest you go and check this out first, someone seems to have stolen our ideas!

We begin with the first in a series of horrible segments thrown inbetween the actual Blair Witch parodies featured. In this intro, you get a Raimi style camera's eye view run through the woods past all number of unfunny sight gags, most of which don't even make sense as jokes. Finally you are told that you are watching some sort of "In the Woods" television station, that apparently only runs Blair Witch parodies, and bad horror film homaging commercials. You then enter your first parody, the Watts B**ch. Where a group of white kids attempt to find some sort of violent gangsta women in the hood. They of course, get lost. Anyway, this one had a couple of funny moments, but you'd probably have to know the original feature really well to get the jokes. One theory should be noted, I believe these film makers made this parody purely on the basis of the uncanny resemblance the lead actress has to the original Blair Witch's Heather. Then We re-enter the world of bad TV, with the only funny commercial on the whole video, for a lawyer who helps people involved in horror film style incidents turn a profit. This commercial is actually really funny, but only because of the faces made by the lawyer character as he attempts to act in his own commercial. Next we have one of the funnier parodies, where a group of young unemployed actors go out into the local park to find a witch that their cute female leader actually totally made up. Her two male partners appear to know it is all a fraud from the beginning and continue to make fun of their leader throughout the film, which is where most of the humor comes from, but it is indeed funny! More so at the beginning though. Next we have some horrible commercials. The home shopping commercials are particularly horrible.Read more ›

A collection of spoofs of The Blair Witch Project. The first spoof (in a neighborhood) is barely watchable, and it's all downhill from there. The film repeats the same 'jokes' over and over, and the vast majority of them are not funny in the least (they either consist of "swearing a lot" or "act like complete idiots in front of the camera"). The whole wretched thing is so badly filmed through hand cameras that it makes the original Blair Witch Project look like an expensive big budget film by comparison, so the technical qualities of this film are not even worth discussing.
They even managed to be in poor taste, intercutting with lame fake TV commercials, one of which seems to make fun of Stephen Hawking's physical disabilities. Also in the movie, incomprehensible multiple sped-up shaky camera footages of an underwood (yes, they actually put that on film).

I gave this 3 stars because..Okay it had Paulie Shore in it. I don't want him to get discouraged over another flop cause he's so lovable!
This movie had some funny parts, but honestly..Most of it was really [bad]. Not [bad] funny, but [bad]. Repeated jokes. You can only watch a spoof of Blair Witch Project with the same dialogue so many times. I'm sure this film had it's day, but it definatly wasn't any time in the last year. Sorry Paulie

A spoof of a spoof of a spoof...common...it's pretty funny to see the "serious filmmakers" of the "Blair Witch" phenomenon made fun of...and some of these directors do it pretty well. It's worth a laugh or two. Better than the original anyway. The Willie Witch Projects is the best of the bunch.
