If you are a huge South Park fan like me, odds are you don't need a review telling you what to expect from season 17. If this is going to be the first South Park you have watched however; this review may help.

Overall, this was a great season. It got off to a great start with episodes like "Let Go, Let Gov" and "World War Zimmerman". There was a slight dip in the writing quality mid-season, and I'd argue that "Ginger Cow" was their weakest episode. Matt and Trey made up for it though with the excellent Black Friday trilogy of episodes parodying Game of Thrones and setting up the story for Matt and Trey's recently released video game "South Park: The Stick of Truth". The season finale was great as well, and it will leave you laughing and a little heart-broken.

I only wanted to take off half a star for the quality dip mid season which is understandable due to Matt and Trey's commitment to the video game and the ongoing success of "The Book of Mormon"; however Amazon only lets me rate in whole stars, so I had to round it down to four.

All in all I feel that this was a very solid season and an improvement over season 16. If you are a South Park fan, BUY IT. If you are new to the series, I suggest experiencing some of the early seasons first. If you want to be current however; get this season. You won't regret it.

South Park is hands down one of my all-time favorite shows and I own every season. I usually buy them as soon as a season is released. This season, like I have found with all other seasons of South Park over the last few years, has it's good episodes and it's 'meh just okay' episodes. All in all it was a good season though.

I loved that they did another trilogy and those 3 episodes are by far the best and worth the $20 for this season (Black Friday, A Song of Ass and Fire, and Titties and Dragons). This was obviously a great way to also promote their new video game The Stick of Truth (which is also AMAZING and any South Park fan should pick it up) as it was released shortly after this season and follows the same theme. There were also a couple other episodes that were good and worth watching. It almost feels like are slightly losing their touch with this show however. It doesn't have the same oomph that it used to. It is still extremely amusing but over the last couple of years the seasons haven't been continuously laugh out loud funny with every episode. Still like I said it has enough episodes that are funny that make it worth the $20. My personal favorites are Black Friday, A Song of Ass and Fire, Titties and Dragons, The Hobbit, Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Poser, and Informative Murder Porn. This is also the first season with their newly designed beginning.

I'm seriously bummed out that they have now cut the show from their original 14 episodes down to only 10 per season (starting with season 17). But maybe it's a good thing with the way these seasons have been over the last few years. I really feel like after season 14 things got a touch stale and it wasn't the same South Park we had grown to love.

First of all, this is the first season on DVD since South Park has changed to "normal" shorter seasons, and so there are only about 2/3 the amount of episodes as seasons past; however, it is at least 2/3 the cost.

It's obvious that South Park has changed a bit over the years, for better or worse. I still love the show though. The creators sense of humor has always been able to hit my funny bone just right. And this season is no different.

Yes, Season 17 has the memorable Black Friday trilogy, which is an homage to Game of Thrones. And that trilogy is great, but there's still some other really funny moments in all the other episodes. Like Ike (Kyle's little Canadian brother) wanting to "Tame Foofa's strange" (one of the characters from the kids show Yo Gabba Gabba). It's so off that you can't help but laugh.

The 17th season of South Park had some very funny and memorable episodes in it. I especially liked the new goth kids episode, and the three part Black-Friday Episodes. Season 17 blu-ray will include Mini-Commentaries for Each Episode with Parker and Stone, Deleted Scenes and possibly more special that haven't been announce yet. So, the bottom line is that this season is just as funny as South Park has always been, and belongs in your collection.

Yawn! The writting is getting tired so the season gets shorter. First 2 disc season. I bought this because after purchasing the first 16 seasons it was out of reflex. Unless you are a purest who has the purchase all disease, stick to the comedy central shows and save your scratch.

as much as a big south park fan that i am, even though i haven't sat down and watched the entire season in a marathon since season 12, this season had it's fair share highlights

"The Black Friday Trilogy" was the biggest highlight of this season even though i think Paramount or Comedy Central should release it as a full movie just like what happened with the "Imaginationland" trilogy that happened in season 11.

i don't understand why it only had 10 episodes in the season, but i don't think it was fair to the fans or to Comedy Central knowing that the creators had 10 months to work on this season and to release season 16 on dvd and blu-ray.

i think that this is the best season since they started to allow the show to become fully 'uncensored'.
