Ok, so full disclosure I've bought 3 of these before this and not even one of those 3 worked. This one did. Obviously it's a 3 piece set, the power cord, the link cable, and the transfer interface itself. It's super easy to plug I'm and use, it can be chucked directly into a drawer and stowed away. The device itself has no storage capabilities it requires an SSD/HDD and obviously the SSD/HDD makes it's own noise (or lack thereof for SSD). Device itself is perfect at moving data, the lag I "suffered" came only from my HDD.

I had five old computers, ranging in age from 10 to 25 years. They were my previous PCs. Somehow I believed I would be able to pull the data off of those old PCS at some future point in time, but I had no idea how I was going to do it. So I kept them around and kept them in air-conditioned environments, and they were a royal pain. As time went along, I had less and less hope that I would be able to figure out how to get the data off of those old hard disks.

I recently saw an advertisement for a device that would connect to old hard drives and allow you to plug them into the USB on your computer and treat them just like they were a flash drive. The device was cheap enough that I decided to order one. Wonder of wonders!

I had seven hard disks that I scavenged from those five computers. This device plugged into all seven of them, even though they used three different interface technologies. Two of them were beyond rescue, but the other five came up just fine. I was able to recover a lot of data, including many old photographs I had taken over the past 25 years, like pictures of my kids when they were growing up. I am excited to get these files back and to finally get rid of these old computers.

If you need data from old hard drives, I highly recommend this!

I received this adapter early this evening. I ordered two of them. I need to use these for setting up hard drives and evaluating them externally. Much easier than using a drive enclosure. I have been using this adapter for a number of hours now. Has been working very well. Very easy and quick to get this adapter working.

I was able to set up the partition, and format the drives. Very responsive and operating as should be. I was able to test the drive with the check disk utility.

The cable lengths for the USB data and for the power supply are very acceptable. The USB data cable will work with a USB 3.0 extension cable. I have this adapter working with a 3 foot USB 3.0 extension cable, and no issues.

The instruction booklet is easy to follow, but is not required for the average user who has a basic knowledge. It is basic common sense how to use this type of adapter and use a disk drive that is external with no enclosure. Take care for the circuit board under the drive.

Some Tips:
Never touch the circuit board with your fingers, and especially let it have contact to any metal or conductive type surface. This includes your fingers or any type of liquid. If something conductive touches the surface of the circuit board under the drive while there is power on it the circuit board can have permanent damage. Take care to not suddenly move or jar the drive while it has power on it. Sudden movement or jarring the drive can cause a head crash and thus destroy the drive.
