Expensive $22 cable, but it works with Windows11. That’s all that matters for me. Plug and play with Windows11. Other less expensive cables require you to go hunting for drivers and some of those drivers aren’t compatible with Windows11. I plugged this in and the driver was automatically downloaded. Opened up my device manager to see which port it was using by unplugging the cable and watching which port disappeared from device manager. Then re-inserted the cable back into the USB port and saw the port re-appear in device manager. Then went into CHIRP NEXT and selected that port and plugged in my UV-5R and it was smooth sailing from there. Was able to DL the IMG from the UV-5R immediately. After making all my changes, I uploaded the Chirp file back onto the radio without a hitch.Tip for you new users of Chirp (or many other software). Make sure the cable is pressed in hard (on the radio). And make sure the radio’s power/volume knob is turned up to 100%. If you have it at 90% or 95%, it may not work. But at 100% volume, it’ll work.This cable seems to be much higher quality than other cables I've used. It is very pliable and "soft". Almost no hard bends or "memory" on it.

Cable works well and as designed.

When you're wrong, you're wrong. Be big enough to admit it (and update your negative review). My original review was negative, and the cable seemed to only work sporadically. Once I realized the problem was MY fault, I updated this review.

When the issue was present, CHIRP would display the following error whenever you attempted to open the COM port: "Could not open port 'COM#': PermissionError(13, 'Access is denied.' None, 5)".

Symptoms: In addition to the above error, when you plug the FTDI cable into your PC *without* a radio plugged in at the other end, the green LED would light up (correct) BUT the red LED would start flashing almost immediately, as if it was sending/receiving data. The red LED should only be active if there is a radio connected AND you are sending/receiving data to/from the radio.

Root Cause: It ended up being the software/hardware combination for the RGB lighting effects on my PC (DRGB fans, etc.). Despite NOT being connected to the USB bus (DRGB and fan headers only), it was pushing interference to the USB bus.

Resolution: Disable your RGB software (I was using SignalRGB) completely so your LEDs aren't flashing and flickering, including killing the taskbar icon for the program. Don't worry if your LED fans are a single color - as long as the software is not running and applying effects, you should be golden. Plug the cable into a USB port and, as long as the red LED doesn't start flashing almost immediately, you know you're good. The green LED should be the only one to light up (constant) UNTIL you start sending/receiving data to/from the radio.

Hope this helps someone, and my apologies to BTECH for my original negative review.
