Product Description

The Science Behind The Magic

Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk is a special blend of milk and sugar that has been dissolved using our proprietary vacuum process to create a foolproof "base" for a variety of desserts. Because of the sugar already present in the milk, most of our recipes require no additional sugar.

Thick Fillings: No Heat Required

When combined with acidic fruit juice, such as lemon juice, Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk thickens - without heating - to form velvety pie fillings, puddings, and other desserts.

The Caramel Connection

Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk caramelizes evenly and easily – just empty in saucepan, heat, and stir.

Recipe For Success

To assure the very best results from your desserts, always use Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk in recipes that call for the product brand and follow directions exactly. Other sweetened condensed milk products may not be of the same high quality, and may negatively affect recipe performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long can I keep Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk on my pantry shelf?
Unopened and stored in a cool, dry area, Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk will last for about two years. Please refer to the Best If Used By date.

Can the color of Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk vary?
Yes. Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk should have an off white color. However, as the product ages it may darken in color and thicken. As long as the Best If Used By date is still current, the product can still be used. The change in color or texture should not affect recipe results.

What is the difference between Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk, Filled Milk, and Evaporated Milk?

  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: Whole milk combined with beet sugar or cane sugar, with about 60% of the water removed.
  • Filled Milk: Evaporated milk with the butterfat removed and replaced with soy oil. It begins as whole milk which has had the butterfat removed (or skimmed) and replaced with soy oil. The mix of skim milk and soy oil is then evaporated.
  • Evaporated Milk: Evaporated milk is fresh, whole milk with about 50% of the water removed. The milk is "evaporated" by removing enough water so that it will make whole milk when diluted with an equal amount of water.

If my recipe calls for Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk is there a substitute I can use?
You may choose to substitute with Eagle Brand Low Fat or Fat Free Sweetened Condensed Milk. Using a filled or evaporated milk would not be recommended.

Is it safe to boil my can of Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk to make caramel sauce?
No. For safety reasons, we do not recommend heating a can, opened or unopened, of Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk. The current can is not designed to withstand high temperatures.

May I drink Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk?
Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk is a ready to use product and may be consumed without any additional preparation.
