Great PWM Dimmer for LED Strip Lights (12 to 24 Volt DC).

Same PWM dimmer was offered as a Kit with the transformer and 5M LED strip lights
- - BUT the color temp was wrong
So I had to go A-La Carte. Picked up this dimmer, the corresponding 12V transformer,
and the 2700K strip lights
Cost was $5 more than the Kit with the 4000K strip lights - -
But she who must be obeyed wanted the warmer 2700K lights.
I had to drill out the mounting holes Just Slightly to fit my #8 x 3/4" mounting screws
- but that was NOT a problem
Mounted in the under-sink cabinet on the veggie island
Next will drill a couple of small holes right under the counter top and run the LED strips.
Dimmer works GREAT with the strip lights - - See my photos in the Customer Photos section

Bought this to control an RV LED light strip that was stock on the RV. Basically the LEDs are the same self adhesive 12V LED light strips sold everywhere. Simply hooked up the wires and it was a smooth fade. Worked to a VERY low glow on my LEDs (of course that will be different for each case). I will buy more of these. The Green terminal block also is a plug, so you can mount the dimmer in an odd location and still be able to get to the terminal block.

The mounting is the 4 holes as shown. If this were to be for a panel mount so you only see the knob, you would have to add spacers or a custom mount to do that, but still doable.

Very good product and works great. A side note is that the knob does not have an OFF notch. Its just a POT that rotates from one end to the other - about 270 degrees of full rotation. It does turn the LEDs off but I haven't checked to see if its actually 0Volts or not. Since its not a switch (it is a potentiometer), don't expect it to act as a switch in the off position unless verified.

I used this to dim two ribbons (10 M) of SUPERNIGHT (TM) 16.4FT 5M SMD 5050 Waterproof 300LEDs Warm White LEDs. The unit provide effective dimming, from almost no light to full on.
The packaging leaves a little to be desired, at least in most residential settings. I disassembled the box, and inside is one small circuit board, which easily fits inside a standard electrical box. With a different control knob, the dimmer nicely matches other switches and outlets in the room. (Of course disassembling probably voids whatever warranty there is for this $6 part, and you need to follow code in separating low voltage and high voltage wiring, but you knew all that...)

This looks like the 8 amp dimmer sold by another site but when you look inside you realize the case looks the same but the guts are totally different. Made like crud - sloppy globs of solder and the board inside is about the size of a USB stick. works more or less the dimming curve seems to move and change each time this thing is used - threw it in the trash - it was inexpensive so lesson learned - you get what you pay for..

This thing wont work with a DC fan - just sits there and buzzes - FYI..

As described. This is a Pulse Width Modulation device - for LED's only. the circuit board has both voltage regulators and a 555 timer on it to control that. It works fine - I use it to control "Angel Eyes" - round LED strips for your car headlights under a magnifying glass I built. The original ad said 8 amp controller - I think they mean .8 amps, since the control circuitry is small surface mount types, and the silk screen on it said .8 amps. You may need to double check this. 96 watts is 8 amps at 12 volts as the ad said, so that math at least checks, but I'm not sure of that. Oh, and there is a fair amount of space inside the unit - just a small circuit board and the main control pot. So you can add additional circuits in the unused area.

I expected it to be smaller. It didn't work at first so I took it apart to find that it is mostly empty on the inside. The 12 year old Chinese kid that soldered the contacts needs to be retrained, two points where not attached completely and all the points where globs. Real nasty job. Once I repaired it I noticed that what ever pulse width modulator was cheap junk. If it isn't set at max voltage or the forward voltage it flashes like crazy. It can possibly induce epileptic seizers, more testing is required.

This is the third time I've used one of these, and it works great to dim LED's. This is basically the only self-contained unit I can find, and it's a decent price. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that it's rather large at 2.25w x 2.5h x 1.375d for the box portion, neglecting the mounting tabs. that's the reason I didn't give it 5 stars, because it takes more space than it should. The circuit inside doesn't come close to filling the space, so it could be made smaller with a slight redesign.

Not much to say about this. Its a 12 volt rheostat utilized to "dim" strip lights. Although it could be used for other applications as well. It attaches to a flat surface with four screws. The wire attachment is easy using a clamp type wire holder via a screw control. Insert each wire lead into its positive or negative slot and just tighten down the screw. One set for input and one set for output. We used ours for a set of blue lights installed around the bottom of our island unit in the kitchen, and the effect is astounding at night from a dimly lit blue haze to a full on neon blue.Great Stuff.
