Knowing the stories about this area and the ranch where these events took place, this movie gave us a view from a HD camera angle not perfect, but decent. The acting was OK,, but enough to draw me in and to over look the weaknesses of the film. If indeed what this movie reenacts the events and creatures seen at Skinwalker ranch, then I would be totally freaked out, and would get the heck out of dodge! Would I watch this movie again? Yes.

If you are looking for " Aliens", " The Day the Earth Stood Still" , " Close Encounters of the 4th Kind" or for that matter " Cloverfield" ...... simply move on.
If you watch this movie completely ignorant to the background story you are bound to be frustrated.
The movie is based ( and I admit loosely) on the experiences the "Gorman" family reported on their ranch in the Uinta Basin , Utah in the 1990s.
A lot of liberties have been taken with the original actual events as reported by the Gorman family as well as the research team sent out investigate , so watch accordingly.
It is my humble opinion this was done to appeal to a broader audience.

In addition, this is yet another movie in the "found footage" genre and it has been tweaked up a bit to keep the general public interested. The "found footage" style does fit the subject of this film very well.

For those of us fully aware of the weird and inexplicable goings on at the " Skin Walker Ranch", this movie gives us a chance to witness ,via the magic of modern movie making, what it must have been like to witness the phenomena as it occurred.
With this in mind I think overall the movie scores big thumbs up from followers of the real " Skin Walker Ranch" story.

Here's the thing - every individual part of this movie works. All the parts in isolation seem either perfectly serviceable or above average. The effects, while low budget, work. The plot moves at a nice pace. The acting is ... acceptable. The ideas are cool.

But still - this is a movie that always feels like it is just about ready to cohere and never quite does. It's always "just about" there. There is some bit of cohesiveness that is missing.

Still... I guess it's worth a rental at the very least. It's really one of those movies that can go either way.

I had high hopes for this movie. It was mostly good. My complaints are, It was dark and hard to see what was happening. Which was frustrating. but it was kinda a fun movie. The real story is neat. This movie was a heck of a lot better than some of the other movies going for horror these days.

Why does everyone have to act like a serious critic?! It's really annoying sometimes! This was not a grand movie from a big budget company. What it is....is a fun ride into the paranormal. I ENJOYED the movie. Not every movie I watch has to be perfect. From this perspective...it's worth the watch end of story. It wasn't as bad as a lot of these reviews want you to believe. The back true story on this is very strange, too. Check it out.

Surprisingly good movie! I watch a lot of these found footage movies and most are not very good but this kept me interested. Acting was good and the story is based on a real place so that added to the creepiness. Worth watching

This is another of the hand-held camera/found footage genre. This one is really pretty good. They used light as a character (tip of the hat to Alien) and that made the whole thing scarier. There were places where I felt that the plot had drifted off and had to be jerked back. I thought the actors were very good, very true to character and really well directed. All in all, this is worth watching.

One of the better found footage films out there.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Given the lukewarm review, I almost gave it a pass.

While the premise is pretty standard, familiar stuff (I won't spoil it for you: Weird stuff happens at a ranch including the disappearance of a kid i a flash of light so investigators with cameras move in etc.). Despite its familiarity, the execution is strong, especially considering the limited budget.

There are a few very clever twists, imaginative use of previously reported events (this is based on a real ranch where reportedly weird crap has been going down for years). Above all, there's an underlying sense of anxiety that's nicely maintained throughout. There's even a suggestion of a grand conspiracy a la X Files, but it's smartly set up and kept vague and therefore effective. (So many stories, including the x Files just unravel when they try to delve into a conspiracy plot line. Check out season 4 of X Files, the one season where they really tried to follow through with the conspiracy idea to its logical end.. It just falls apart.)

This might be a relatively small point, but I really appreciate the fact that the characters actually checked the footage they took each night!
Check out most of those films and even though the camera picks up all kinds of crazy stuff, most of the films in the genre feature characters who don''t actually watch the damn footage and so they are taken by surprise each time something befalls them. It's one of the more idiotic conventions of these films It's like duh, why set up 12 cameras to capture evidence of paranormal activity if you're never going to check the damn footage.

Skinwalker Ranch impressed me because it has characters who actually behave like intelligent human beings. (They reviewed the footage each day!)
