- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2024Love this bottomless portafilter! Feels very solid and heavy so not worried it will break. I've seen others post that it leaks around the sides, but I've only noticed that happen when my grind is too fine. Basket fits more like 24g vs 21g and i use a screen on top as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2025This portafilter is a massive upgrade from the standard one that comes with your Gaggia. So much more room under it is really significant since Gaggias have pretty low clearances.
Note that this product comes with a TRIPLE shot basket. Your single and double shot baskets that came with your Gaggia can be put into this portafilter if you want, but if you're using the included basket, you should use something like 22g of coffee. I've been using the same grind and tamp as I did with the "crema perfetta" basket with no issues whatsoever and getting great crema.
I also appreciate that the basket fits more snugly in this portafilter. When I tap it against my trash can, the espresso puck comes out neatly without dumping the whole basket with it!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2023I have a brand new Gaggia Classic Pro. This bottomless portafilter fits and works great! I replaced the basket with an 18g IMS Barista Pro Nanotech basket. The fit is actually a little better than the stock portafilter, and it's easier to remove (I suspect) due to the greater leverage you gain from the slightly longer handle. I no longer have to grip my machine as I insert or remove the portafilter like I do with the stock portafilter. The basket retaining spring is stronger than the one that comes with the stock portafilter, which is nice.
Minus one star for the finish. You can tell with my particular piece that it had a bunch of dings in it before it got chromed, which comes through in various places in the chrome Regardless, the quality is SO MUCH better than the stock portafilter that comes with the machine so it's easy to overlook.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2024High quality piece that is sleek and performs well. It fit perfectly into our Gaggia machine and works better than the ogre that came with the machine because it gives much more clearance for a higher shot glass.
Fairly heavy actually.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2021This is a solid portafilter. The basket can be difficult to remove but this seems to primarily due to the design so I suspect all bottomless filters would be the same. This is my first bottomless filter. I figured out pretty quickly that what "they" say is true - this type of portafilter is going to immediately point out any flaws in your technique. This type of filter does not allow much room for error in grind, dosing, packing, or tamping. I do not get crema nearly as often as I did with my previous regular style basket - but I am figuring out my technique and getting better each time. I have used it almost daily since I received it and only twice has it spewed coffee - once onto the back of my machine and once it leaked over the top and down the handle. Both were due to my error in tamping. I have not had issues reported by some reviewers with it spraying onto my clothing or even the counter. If your technique is on point, you shouldn't have these problems (that is true with any bottomless filter, not this one specifically.) The flavor is amazing. I don't think I will ever use a regular filter again. My only complaint is the handle does unscrew very easily, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does loosen a tiny bit especially when I am trying to remove the basket. It has not caused any issues, it is more of a slight annoyance than anything. It is a quality filter and worth the money.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2023This is not engineered to work with Gaggia Classic. The gasket does not seal, and coffee sprays all over the counter and handle of the porta-filter. Poor design. Frustrating experience.
I tested it with different levels of coffee and with different grinds. All with the same basic failure. No true seal with the Gaggia espresso machine, so coffee water leaks everywhere.
I tried this one because it was recommended by Amazon when I was shopping for a new handle for my broken Gaggia original portafilter. My original filter works fine, but the plastic handle broke, which is somewhat poor quality in the first place. However, that original Gaggia porta-filter still works. So I'll be going back to that (ordering the plastic handle replacement) and returning this one.
Waste of time and effort. Too bad, because I like the concept of no spouts and less gunk build-up promised by this bottomless design.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2023Pictured is my first pull out of the package—still shot looks good but it pulled too fast lol, but that’s on me and my grind settings. That said, this naked portafilter fits snug paired with my IMS nanotech 18g basket onto my GCP. Can’t say anything good/bad about the +/-20g basket that came with it because I set that aside as soon as it arrived. Build quality is great for a plastic handle. I plan on replacing the handle for a wooden one in the future. GCP owners can buy with confidence. Cheers!

- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2024I bought this bottomless portafilter and 3 cup basket with the hopes that it was made by Gaggia, but there is no way this is made by the same company who made the coffee machine. First attempt to use, it sprayed all over my counter and coffee machine. I tried a larger grind setting like others suggested and it still went all over the place. Apparently you cannot use espresso grind with this filter. The portafilter is loose in machine too, not a tight seal. Sending back. The media could not be loaded.
