I have to admit, when I first received in the mail, I thought I was missing a part...because I assumed there should be a 'straw' to pump on the inside of the bottle. But the bottles worked perfect for my travel toiletries. My face wash is a gel-like substance that comes in a large pump-bottle, so this size was perfect to travel with.

Leak proof and didn't break in luggage.
I have only used these once for traveling by air. I bagged them just in case they leaked, but they did great. I used one for hair gel and one for lotion, no leaks and easy to fill. I carried them on the plane and checked them in my luggage and no problems. They hold a lot of product, I almost wish I could get them in half the size. I was gone for a week and used maybe a third. As for the pumping, you have to pump until the bottom has pushed the product all the way to the top before it will dispense. I haven't tried cleaning them out or refilling yet, so can't comment on that yet.
