Amazing value for DIY z-wave hobbyist
Amazing for the price! I got tired of useless Melnor and Orbit wifi products and decided to build my own, Fibaro RGBW Micro Controller Z-wave + three Valves and I got 3 zone Z-wave controllable system. I can do anything with it through SmartThings scripting capabilities. Attached photo of my hose connection to 1/2 inch poly pipe as some folks on here claimed it's a non-standard thread. I was a bit worried about that but I tried it and it turns out this is a standard 1/2 inch sprinkler thread!

These are fantastic solenoid valves. I have purchased 6 of them over the last few months as I've been installing an irrigation system and they have all worked flawlessly. They are also incredibly cost effective. I highly recommend them.

Ordered specifically for my RV potable water drain. Needed very light weight so bracing was not needed. Works perfectly.

Threads are same as 1/2 pipe except they are not tapered. Therefore will not screw into a 1/2 pipe fitting. Using PVC fittings which are a standard pipe thread. Had to re-thread very carefully to add a taper. Fortunately had an old adjustable die I inherited from my grandfather. It did the job.

I guess you get what you pay for...? Definitely one of the cheapest options on the market. That's why I bought it.
All of mine basically function, but a couple notes:

1. One solenoid I purchased came cracked. Just slight damage on it's side and not effecting anything functional, so no real issue there, but worth noting.
2. The threads on the inlet/outlet!!! These threads are 1/2" NPS. They should be NPT! If you don't know anything about pipe threading (buy these and you'll learn) it means that anything you buy at a hardware store to mate with this is not going to fit quite right. However, I'll save you some headache here. You can make it work with NPT fittings. Be super careful when threading so not to cross thread anything, and use Teflon tape. I had no issues after that, but threading onto the solenoid was not a joy.
3. The biggest issue is that some do not seem to fully close with water pressure. Water will continue to trickle out of a closed valve at times. This will be a deal breaker for most applications.

Because of issue number 3, I would recommend using this for small DIY projects and testing. Nothing critical... like I did....
I paid $7/solenoid. Great price, mediocre product.

IMPORTANT: When looking for fittings, look in the lawn sprinkler section of your local hardware store!

I used this, in combination with an arduino and a couple sensors to automate my coffee pot. I was tired of filling it up every few days and so I ran a line from my sink to my Coffee pot using this to control the water. To interface this with the Arduino, I simply used a relay. I used power from an old power block from some old printer or something to give it the 12v. (actually i think im running 14v but it works!)

Got all of the connections from Home Depot to get it to work, got it hooked up, supplied power and it came on as expected. Problem came when I turned the power off. I heard the solenoid struggle to close but it could never fully close. I had to turn the water pressure on the valve really low before it would turn on and off fully. And by low I mean so low it would barely leave the sprinkler. Seems I got a dud but I wasn’t that impressed with the quality overall. I ended up ordering the Beduan version on amazon. Besides it actually working... The build quality is much better, there is a nice cover for the wires and you get metal connections. I’d recommend going for that instead.

Excellent operation, it requires minimum pressure to operate. Do not use it when water is released by gravity.

5.0 out of 5 stars I used it to control water input to my aquarium ...
Reviewed in Canada on April 8, 2018
I used it to control water input to my aquarium. It is very dependable. There are no leaks. The solenoid is switched on by a timer relay circuit and allows RO water to refill the aquarium when a float switch detects water level has dropped. This valve must never leak, otherwise the aquarium would overflow. I've had it installed for many weeks now and it works flawlessly. Very dependable unlike other similar models available from other vendors.
